Colin

“Are you leaving already?” Her lip is stuck out in a pretend pout. She’s lying in a tangle of sheets, long bleached blonde hair fanned out on the pillow. She’s tall, somewhere around five-ten I would guess, with a body that most men would die to touch just once in their lifetime. I’ve touched it approximately three times and I’m already bored with it.

“Yeah. I have to go into the office for a couple of hours,” I say as I slide back on my shirt, tucking it into the suit pants I’m wearing. Walking back into her living room, I spot my tie next to my cuff links.

“On a Saturday night?” she calls out, the pout still firmly on her lips, I’m sure.

“I have to finish a couple things before I head out of town tomorrow.” I do have to head out tomorrow, but not for business. I’m attending a party at my old college roommate’s condo but why would I tell her that? She’s already becoming too clingy. It’s time to find someone new.

“Well, call me as soon as you get back.” I return to the bedroom, sitting on the end of the bed to put on my shoes where she can’t see me roll my eyes.

“Yeah,” I say, knowing with certainty that won’t happen. You would think after the third time I could at least remember her name. It’s something like Bethany… or Brittany… or Becca, it doesn’t really matter. I’ve fucked all of them and they’re all interchangeable.

This one is quite the tiger in bed which is the only reason I’ve held on this long, but I’m already bored with her vapid mind. There will be a new one next week. I’m as certain of that as I am about death and taxes. I finish putting on my shoes before heading to the door.

“Don’t I at least get a kiss goodbye?” There’s that pout again. I give her a quick peck then head out her door. I never have sex at my place. I learned early that it’s much easier to get away from theirs.

I drive back to my large penthouse in downtown Kansas City. There are three bedrooms where no one sleeps but me and a kitchen no one cooks in. It’s the best, however, so I pay the exorbitant homeowners association fees to stay. I peel off my suit as soon as I enter the door. I’m too restless still to sleep, so I slide on my swimsuit to head down to the pool.

My body is kept in pristine shape all of the time. I eat healthy, work out regularly and get regular checkups. The only vice I really have is drinking too much and smoking cigars at poker night. I only play poker when I’m in Fort Worth on business. Usually, I can win several hundred in an evening.

Well, I could until my college buddy, Grayson, introduced his new stock analyst into the game. That tall fucker completely wiped me out last time. That wouldn’t even bother me too much, if he would just stop sniffing around my sister.

I dive into the lap pool to begin my workout. I have a regular gym I practice Krav Maga at, but I use the building’s pool whenever possible. It’s included in the exorbitant fees after all. The pace I set is grueling after a warm-up lap. Usually, I switch between running six miles and swimming around two.

Tonight I push myself to two and a half before stopping. I like to come here late at night when I don’t have to share it with anyone. Drying off, I slip back on my sweats to head upstairs. My phone pings as I walk to the elevator.

Unknown: Hi Colin. Saw you at the fundraiser tonight. Thought we might get together sometime.

I hit delete, erasing the message. I’ve already fucked her. I don’t really remember it but I don’t want to start anything. I should know better than to keep giving out my cell number.

After a long, hot shower, I climb into my king-size bed, alone. I stare at the ceiling for a long time before finally drifting off to sleep. Who do I pursue next? As long as she’s gorgeous with long legs and full breasts, it doesn’t really matter.

I’ve been this way since I discovered in high school that I had a natural ability to charm the panties off of most of the cheer squad. College didn’t slow me down at all. I went to Rice on a full academic scholarship then law school at Stanford. It seemed like the most logical course to my life. Graduating summa cum laude wasn’t even a challenge for me.

The ability to win an argument came with the same charm. I come across as a laid-back guy, but most people don’t know how wound up I really am. Maybe only my sister, Lily, truly sees me for who I am.

My alarm goes off at six in the morning. I have to catch a plane at nine. I quickly dress, grabbing a granola bar for breakfast. The car service I’ve called to take me to the airport is waiting for me when I exit the building. I spend a lot of my time traveling the road to the airport.

After college, I was recruited by a prestigious corporate law firm with offices in Kansas City, Dallas, Houston, and Tulsa. Since I am the highest billing junior partner at the firm, I have clients in all four cities. I spend much of my time reviewing oil and gas contracts. Corporate law is not very sexy, but it is very lucrative.

Finding my seat in first class, I settle back and pull out my iPad “Good morning, Mr. Rhett. It’s a pleasure to serve you again. I’ve taken the liberty of bringing your orange juice.” I fly this route so often, that I’ve become acquainted with most of the flight attendants. I’ve received fourteen phone numbers, twelve from women and two from men. I’ve even mile-high clubbed one of the women in the galley kitchen on the way to Houston.

“Thank you, Hannah. What would I do with my morning if it wasn’t for you?” She throws me a winning smile before returning to her duties. Maybe I’ll consider a stopover with Hannah if she’s working my flight back.

Our plane arrives on time and I walk with my bag out of the airport. Of course, I have Hannah’s phone number in my pocket. It took me all of twenty seconds to talk her out of it.

Heading out the door, I walk right into the arms of a tall, leggy blonde. My sister, Lily, has decided to meet me at the airport today. Snatching her up, I swing her around in my arms while she begs me to put her down.

“So why did you decide to pick me up this time? You know I could have just gotten the car,” I ask her as I shove my bag into her small sports car.

“I can’t miss my big brother?” I roll my eyes at her as she laughs.

“So what have you been doing to keep yourself entertained?” I ask her, holding on as she speeds out of the tollbooth.

“I always do the same things. You have the exciting life, Colin. What beautiful woman will you be seen in the papers with next?”
