“The body shots were just the end of it. Colin did get really drunk doing them though. Did y’all know he’s like sleeping with an alligator when he gets drunk?” Why are they still looking at me like I’m crazy? They share a look between them before turning to stare at me again.
“My God! You had sex with Colin Rhett.” Izzy says in shock.
“No! No, we’re just hanging out. I swear. I didn’t mean we slept together like that. He’s not even tried. He’s actually a really good guy.” I grin. “He is a damn good kisser and I’ve seen him naked, jerking off actually.”
“Oh God, no! Why would you say that?” Lily jumps up making retching noises as she walks into the kitchen. The others laugh as I share a fist bump with Claire. Lily walks back in carrying another bottle of wine. “Now I have to get really drunk to erase that image.”
“So the question is,” Dia looks at me with a studious look, “is he as hung as we’ve all fantasized he is?” She looks around at everyone before refilling her glass. “You know we all had the same thoughts swimming in the Rhetts’ pool with him when we were in college.” Everyone agrees except Lily who lets out a sick sounding groan.
“No Dia, we all haven’t. At no time, I repeat, never have I ever fantasized about my brother’s junk!” Lily makes another retching noise before drinking straight from the bottle. While she’s occupied by an impressive serving of wine, I look at the rapt attention everyone else has now focused on me. Looking around, I mouth ‘huge’ complete with hand gestures.
“I hate all of you bitches!” Lily states when she looks at the grins around the room before returning the bottle to her lips.
By the time Friday rolls around, I’m beat. Semester finals have ended with several of my students bringing me a Christmas gift. When the last one wishes me Happy Holidays before slipping out, I begin to shut down my classroom for vacation. I’m at the back of the room re-shelving books when I hear a deep sexy voice wash over me.
“Hello, beautiful.” Spinning, I see Colin smiling at me from the doorway. I walk quickly to him. He sweeps me into a bear hug. “God, you feel good,” he says before kissing me.
Maybe Izzy was right when she said friends don’t French kiss hello. Since when did we start kissing hello anyway? Oh right, probably after the show in the shower. I feel a shiver work up my body at the memory.
“You feel pretty good yourself,” I tell him when he finally turns me loose.
“I thought I’d take you to dinner. Anywhere you’d like,” he says.
“I’ll have to check my social calendar, of course. I have quite the list of dinner invitations to weed through.”
“Oh, you do? Any of them been licking salt off of your body lately?” The grin he sends me has my body tingling.
“Just one. He’s usually at the top of the list. He’s a bit of a bad boy, so I have to watch what shenanigans he’s going to get me involved in next. Last time he licked me, he passed out with me in an alligator grip.”
“Hmm. He sounds like a bit of a douche. I think I can give him a run for his money on your calendar. How’s this?” Colin bends at his knees, running his body up against mine as he licks up my neck, ending at brushing his lips against mine until I open them in self-defense with a moan. Or maybe it’s self-preservation. Doesn’t matter, he has me growing wet between my legs with that one move.
“Ahem!” Colin and I split like we’ve been caught behind the bleachers. “Hate to break up the soft porn show, but I wanted to wish you a Merry Christmas, Maggie.” It’s Julien, the librarian who went with me to the football game Colin was at. He looks at Colin then shakes his head, “Such a shame,” before leaving with a wave.
“Is that the guy from the Cowboys game? Is that my competition?” Colin asks, his eyebrows quirked up in a smirk. He knows no one can compete.
“Yeah, he’s the librarian here. He’s more like my competition. I think he has a thing for you.” I laugh when he grins.
“So I’ve been hit on by both women and men this week. Damn! I’m hot!” I laugh, pushing him toward the door.
“Let’s go, Romeo. You promised me dinner and I’m starving. As long as we go anywhere but the Capital Grille.” Colin throws an arm over my shoulders as we walk out of the school.
We decide on Haufbrau Steakhouse for dinner. It’s close to my old college campus, but with any luck, Brett will be too scared to show his face around here. After we’ve ordered, Colin pulls out a present from behind his back.
“I got you something. Merry Christmas.”
“Where were you hiding my present?” I look behind him. “I bet I’ll like it. Who doesn’t want a gift somebody pulled out of his ass?”
Colin rolls his eyes at me, “Just open it, smart-ass.” He watches as I slowly open the present. It’s obviously a book, but I have no idea which one. It’s old, I can tell that from the spine. I grin up at Colin as he watches me anxiously.
Turns out there are actually five small books. When I finally get them unwrapped, I stare at him in disbelief. He’s given me a very old set of Dickens Christmas books includingA Christmas Carol.
“I don’t know what to say,” I whisper, running my hand carefully over the cover.
“Say you’ll keep them. I really want you to have them. Maggie?” He’s looking at me with true concern on his face. Realizing I’ve been staring at them like they might disappear at a moment’s notice, I wrap my hand around the back of his neck, pulling him to me in a kiss. Now he looks a little like a bat in a hailstorm, making me laugh.
“I love these!” I hug them to my chest. “I’ve never gotten anything this amazing in my life. Thank you.” He grins at me, his eyes lighting up. I’m pretty sure they match mine at this moment. “I have something for you too, but it’s at the house. It’s not as exciting as this, but I think you’ll like it.”
“Hi, guys! I didn’t know you would be here,” Lily says, suddenly standing next to our table. She has Matt in tow. “Do you mind if we join you?” she asks, sitting in one of the other seats. I guess that’s what we get for winding up at a four-top table instead of a two-top.
