“Really?”
“Don’t sound so eager, Sweetheart; we’re going into battle.”
“You know I love a good fight.” I rolled my shoulders as I stood.
“And you know I get hard seeing your violent side.”
“For fucks sake.” Declan scrubbed a hand over his face. “Get down there already before I change my mind.”
“Second line!” I boomed. “Ready your swords!”
Luka pulled me to him, looping one arm around my waist as he pressed his lips against mine. I met his lipseagerly. I didn’t know how many kisses we’d get. I hoped for a lifetime, but until this war was over, I’d treat every kiss like our last.
When we finally parted, we were both panting, my blood thrummed in my veins. “Let’s go make ‘em bleed, Sweetheart.”
I smiled, my chest bursting. “I love you.”
“I love you too.”
“Now let’s go kill that bitch.”
We turned and ran down the mountain, a scream tearing from my throat as our line followed behind us.
The first clash of my sword sent power thrumming through my veins. I easily knocked away the blow, sending the female’s arm backward. She didn’t see my next blow coming. My sword ripped through her stomach. I didn’t spare her a second glance as I continued forward.
The first group was carving the path through for me; I needed to get in as deep as I could so I could use my magic.
Bloodlust took over my body as I carved my way through the battlefield.
Once Luce’s spell was set, she’d meet us on the battlefield—her and Hecate—and we’d make our way through the battlefield to Keziq. That was when Luce would stop Luka’s heart, and we could kill Keziq.
We’d be successful, I reminded myself, over and over again as I cut through soldier after soldier.
We needed to be successful.

LUCIANA
The sounds of battle became clearer and clearer with every step I took toward the valley. The cold stung my cheeks beneath the hood of my cloak as the wind whipped around me.
I ducked beneath the branch of a tree as Nico ran through the forest. My hands fisted in his silver coat. My legs pressed into his side to stay on his back as he picked up speed.
A large chunk of the wolves accompanied us, Zienna and Stellan included, despite my protests.
I wanted to sneak out here alone to complete the spell, but I was quickly shut down.
Declan, the big bird war boss he was, reminded me,This is war, Luciana, you can’t sneak off by yourself and complete a big dangerous spell.
Man oh man was I fucking tempted to do just that to prove a point.
But maybe he knew what he was talking about, this was war after all, and he had more knowledge about it than I did, but I didn’t take well to being bossed around, and there was a lotof that happening lately.
Better safe than sorry though, I guess.
The trap had been laid now, the wolves helping me disperse the blood salts around the battlement. Anyone within the barrier would have their magic dissipated while the spell ran on.
How long that would be, I was unsure, but it should be long enough to disrupt the battle while we went in search of Keziq.
