Luka continued to thrust into me slowly as he drank, my body clenching around him as my release barreled through me.

He licked the blood from my neck before placing a kiss over the mark. “I love marking you.”

“Fuck,” I swore.

Luka laughed. “Hold on, love. We’re not done yet.”

He pulled me onto his lap, lining up his cock with my entrance as his length slipped back inside me. I braced my hands on his shoulders as his fingers dug into my hips and he began moving again. His hips thrusting upwards as he held me against him.

His hand found my clit, stroking roughly as his thrusts picked up pace.

Pleasure exploded. White spots clouded my vision as I came again, Luka following over the edgewith me this time.

He drew me close as we both came back down from our release, trying to catch our breath as we reclined on the bed.

He brushed my sweat-coated hair out of my face and placed a kiss on my temple. “There wasn’t a single fucking thing I didn’t miss about you either,” he spoke against my skin.

“Thank you for coming after me. I know you’re probably mad at me for sacrificing myself?—”

“We’re not doing his now,” he cut me off. “I promise you this, Lennox. Wewillhave this fight. But not today. Not right now. Not when I finally got you back.”

“Okay.”

His brows pinched. “Okay?”

“Yes,okay.” I rested my head on his chest, listening to the beat of his heart. “I just want to be in this moment too.”

His hand flexed on my hip as he placed a kiss on my jaw. “For the record, I’ll always come after you.”

I knew without a shadow of a doubt that was true. There were a lot of things I feared, that I worried about.

But Luka loving me wasn’t one of them.

If there was one thing I could count on, it was him being at my side.

I would never take that for granted again.

I held Lennox to me, fearing if I let her go, this would all disappear. That I would realize this was all an elaborate dream.

She’s here. She’s really here. She came back,I reminded myself as I stroked my finger up and down the heated skin of her arm. She was here in my arms.

“I think I heard you,” she murmured. “When I was unconscious. When I was fighting against the magic. I heard you.”

I tightened my hand on her hip. “Yeah?”

She nodded against my chest. “Keziq tried to alter my memories of us. She tried to turn me against you—against vampires. While I was unconscious, I relived memory after memory of us. When the memory started, I had no idea who you were, and when I realized you were a vampire, I was terrified. But then something would trigger a memory—and I’d remember. I’d remember you.”

“I could hear you and another voice that sounded a lot like my mother’s. She told me to fight the magic. So, I did. Each memory it showed you—but not you. It was a different version. The magic triedto change you in my mind, but I always remembered the true you. Each time I remembered—when I reclaimed a memory, it would throw me into another one, and I’d have to start all over. Time after time, memory after memory, I always remembered you.”

“I’m glad.” My skin felt tight as I searched for words. “Lennox, when they told me what that witch tried to do—when you wouldn’t wake up?—”

She stroked a hand down my face, turning my gaze to meet her. “I know.” We stayed like that, our eyes locked. After all she had been through, she made it back to me.

She closed the space between us and dusted her lips over mine, her hair a golden curtain around us. The light from the window illuminated her in a glow like she truly was my gift from the stars sent down just for me.
