‘Sorry.’ He pushed himself up off the desk. ‘I’m disturbing you. We can talk about this later.’

‘No.’ I caught his hand. ‘Tell me what you were thinking while I have this,’ I said, raising the coffee to my lips. Finn rested back against the desk.

‘Sure?’

‘Yes. I’ve just sat through a two-hour meeting. I need the break. So, what were you thinking?’ I asked again.

‘Ever been to Bath?’

‘I have but it was ages ago. Colette and I went to see the Roman Baths and I’d planned a tour but I could see she was flagging after the Baths so we ended up at the hotel bar for the rest of it.’

Finn grinned. ‘There are worse places to be.’

‘That’s true. And we still had a lovely time.’ I frowned. ‘From what I remember.’

‘They have an amazing Christmas market there. I thought perhaps we could go for that?’

‘Are you sure you’re not an elf in disguise?’ If he was, it was a bloody good disguise. I doubted there were many six foot five, built-like-a-brick-outhouse helpers up at the North Pole.

‘Not always in disguise,’ he replied cryptically.

I put my mug down, my eyes fixed on him. ‘Now that sounds like a story.’

‘Let’s just say I got the short straw. I was aiming for Father Christmas.’

‘Please tell me that there are pictures.’

‘Not that I’m letting you see.’ He laughed. ‘I’ve got an image to maintain.’

Leaning down, I grabbed my phone out of my bag and tapped out a quick message.

‘What are you doing?’ Finn leant over to see the screen but I tilted it away from him.

A few moments later, my phone beeped with the reply. ‘Oh my God! Your face!’ I said, laughing. ‘You look so pissed off.’ He made a swipe for the phone and I let him have it.

‘My sister is such a traitor.’

‘You look so cute!’

Finn’s mouth was set in a line. ‘I wasn’t going for cute.’

‘Even so, you nailed it.’

‘Thanks.’ There was a glimmer of amusement in those sexy eyes.

I leant closer. ‘Do you still have the outfit?’

‘Why?’

I wiggled my eyebrows and Finn burst out laughing. ‘You’re a very strange woman.’

‘Thanks.’

‘Although it is, of course, up to the elves to tell the big man who’s been naughty and who’s been nice.’ He returned the tease.

‘Hi, Finn,’ Bella said, striding in and screeching the conversation to a halt, which was probably just as well.

‘Hi, Bella. How are you?’
