He nodded. ‘Yeah. Me too.’ Then he wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me closer. ‘He was right about you looking beautiful. You’re breathtaking. You know I nearly lost it when you walked in earlier.’
‘Well, I’m glad you didn’t. Do you know how long this make-up took this morning?’
Jesse stood back, his hands holding mine. ‘How did I get so lucky?’
I let go of one of his hands and touched the tiny scar I’d given him that very first day.
‘Maybe we were both just at the right place at the right time to meet the right person.’
‘I guess we were.’
Then he kissed me again and I knew it was true.
