Ryan shrugged, still not sure of how to respond to her. "Don't know," he said. "I gave you all of my donuts this morning so that's not an option anymore."
Lucy gave him a small smile and let her fingers slide off his bicep, lingering a bit before she pulled away. "Do you want me to heat up some lasagna and bring it over?"
"I would like that."
"Good! Good." She tamped down her reaction, but Ryan could tell there was something in the way she responded. "Good." She grabbed her bottle and stood up, looking down at Ryan behind her sunglasses. "So I'm going to head back to my place and get that started. And maybe show up in an hour?"
"An hour is good."
Oh no, he understood now why she sounded nervous when she agreed to come over for dinner. It was the same nervousness he heard in his own voice. Dammit. This was going to be the opposite of a good idea. He wasn't really sure if that was a problem.
Instead, he just watched as Lucy said "See you soon," and gave him a small wave. He watched her walk away, her dress hugging the curves of her body as she headed back to her cottage. And he waited until he could finally get control of his hard-on before he went inside to clean up his place because a woman was coming over for dinner.
