“Fu… freak we breaking up from? We never got together to break up.” I replied, rubbing Cherry’s back.

This was the third yawn she had done, which meant she was going to sleep. Capri said that she fought her sleep during naptime now.

“I knew she wasn’t telling me the full truth… what happened?”

“Ask her, Pri. I woke up and she had her shit packed with a car to take her to the helicopter.”

“I be forgetting them Casellis rich like that,” Meer mumbled.

“Not doing the back and forth with her… she knows where I stand and how I’m coming, but she keeps letting fear get in the way. Her ass wasn’t scared when she was with that bum.”

“She wasn’t into him in that way. With you, the feelings are different.”

“When she left out that door, she told me exactly how she felt. I never had a problem chasing someone I want; I’m not doing that shit when the other person doesn’t feel the same.”

“This is true. Something has been off with her, and both me and Blair have seen it.”

I shook my head because she hadn’t told Blair or Capri about Sigel. “She found a box when moving his shit out, and it has a lot of shit that suggests that he’s the Red Hook killer or knows who the person is.”

Capri leaned forward. “Seriously? My office has hit a wall… we don’t have any updates for the public and we’re not even close to identifying who the person is. We had a witness, but Lucia fucked that up.”

“Nigga is an undercover cop, moonlighting as a crip, and now he a serial killer. When the fuck does he sleep or find time to take care of his kids?” Meer wondered out loud.

“I have a meeting with Director Robinson and the attorney general… he’s been reaching out a lot wanting to talk about something. Said it’s important and I have a slight clue what he wants to discuss.”

“What he want to discuss?” Meer questioned.

He wore a serious expression on his face as his son messed with his chain. “The prosecutor being murdered… think he may ask me to step in.”

“Fuck no, Sug.”

She sighed. “Not ideal, I know… not like I can just tell them no.”

He leaned up, disturbing the peace that Haze had while playing with his chain. “You got four kids and a husband. I get your career, but they just murked the last one… the fuck that mean for you?”

“Means she’ll be protected no matter what,” Quasim rounded the pillar alone.

“Thank you, Sim.” Capri smiled, as he placed a kiss on her head, and sat on the single chair across from us.

“Your wife is to remain protected but we sending mine in the lion’s den… this how we playing shit?”

“Nobody is sending me anywhere that I don’t want to go… This Preston Vance case is fucking big, Meer cat.”

“Your best friend is on his legal team… you ready to go against her?” I questioned, knowing that Zoya was going to remain.

She was so fucking stubborn. Despite what anyone would tell her, she was going to do whatever she wanted with her stubborn ass.

Capri held eye contact as she took a long sigh. “We’ll cross that bridge when we get to it.”

“We making decisions without having conversations now? You telling me what you gonna do without considering me and our kids?” Meer held Haze as he stood up.

Capri sat and allowed him to speak his shit before he left us in the back. She leaned her head back. “You not going after him?”

“Whenever we’re mad at each other, we give each other space. He’ll let me know when he wants to talk.”

I nodded. “I like that.”

“He’s not wrong to feel how he does. You’ve been involved in a lot, Pri,” Quasim spoke, as he looked at his phone. “Where you at, my love?”
