Both Capri and Blair knew Brooklyn, but my baby didn’t know it so well. She was a Staten Island girl.

Soon as we whipped around the block, we came into view of Gateway, and she pulled into the semi empty parking lot. There was a few cars from workers closing down the stores for the day. Zoya hit the steering wheel when she saw Capri and Blair leaned on the front of their cars.

“Fuck!”

“You win some… you lose some.”

“Shut the fuck up, Gerald!” she raised her voice.

“Fuck you talking to?” I barked, and she looked at me with those innocent eyes, like she didn’t just tell me to shut the fuck up.

“You… don’t fucking curse at me.”

“Stop be so bumboclaat disrespectful. Mi nah play wid yuh.” I pointed my finger in her face, ’cause her ass had me fucked up. “Fuck you talking to like that, Zoya?”

“I didn’t fucking stutter.” She put the car in park, and I hopped out the whip.

Respect was big for me, and the fact that she sat there and told me to shut the fuck up like I was the reason for her losing the race had me heated. “You on that bull, Zoya…. On that bull!” I walked away from the car.

“What the fuck happened?” Meer questioned.

“She fucking disrespectful… that fucking mouth.”

“And ain’t shit you gonna do about it.” She rolled her neck, like the shit was cute. To her, it was cute.

She had gotten away with it her entire life. Always saying whatever she wanted, never caring if the shit hurt feelings or not.

“Shorty something else.” I nodded my head.

“And like I fucking sai?—”

“Chill, Zoy,” Corleon said, and she looked at him, as if he had the nerve to stop whatever she was going to say.

“You fucking bullshit, Zoya… and you know that shit!” I hollered from across the parking lot, and she stood behind the car door with her arms crossed, as if she didn’t give a damn what I was saying.

“Yo, take a walk… chill…come on,” Cappadonna said, as he climbed out his truck.

I would never put my hands on a woman, and even with her ass being disrespectful, I still never had the urge to cause harm to my baby, or any woman.

“The fuck happened in that car?” Capp asked, as we walked closer to the stores, putting space between me and Zoya.

I had calmed down slightly, but she was still running off at the mouth. Corleon had told her to chill, and she was still going on.

Her ass didn’t like that she was handed back the shit she dished out. Zoya was used to being the one to say fuck shit to people, and everyone gave her distance.

I wasn’t going for that shit.

“She looked me dead in the face and told me to shut the fuck up.”

“Shit…” Capp whistled, as we walked into one of the stores.

I don’t know why we were walking into the supermarket, but I was so heated that I went with it. “Her mouth fucking fire.”

“What you expect? You see who her brother is… apple don’t fall.”

“He’s her brother, not her father.”

Capp picked up the off-brand cranberry juice. “To you… Menace is like a father. He raised those kids when he was just a kid himself. There’s a different dynamic when a sibling takes on the parental role, G.”
