I learned that shit the hard way when I was snatched out my bed and put into cuffs while my mother and aunt screamed as I was being shoved in the back of a patty wagon. It was always butterflies and fat asses when niggas were getting money and making plans.
Loyalty went out the window the minute time was being tossed around. Shit was fucking bullshit. My uncle hung around Papa Inferno back in the day, and he brought me around the Infernos.
I kept in touch with them, but I was on my own time. I was running with niggas that I thought would lay down their life for me.
Shit.
I would have laid mine down for them.
In my head, I had my crew and that was all I needed. Quasim and the Inferno Gods were good people, but I was out here trying to stop my mama from working two jobs and keep my brother out of trouble.
When I was shipped away, it wasn’t my guys that I had been loyal to that held me down.
It was Papa and Quasim Inferno.
My uncle was locked up out of state and put the word in that I was locked up. Quasim looked out for me more than the niggas I would have died for. He never counted favors or acted pressed.
When I needed something, he was there to help.
For that reason alone, if it ever came to it, I would put my life down for him or any of the Infernos.
“Goo, you straight?”
“Yeah.”
Khaos stared at me for a second before we heard the lock jingle, and he went to stand behind the door near the coat closet. I sat down on the couch in the dark and waited for him.
“You said we can go out of town last month and now you saying something different.” I could hear shorty slurring, while begging to be taken out of town.
It was sad what women settled for these days. This nigga wasn’t worth shit, but she was begging for him to take her away. The nigga would take her to Atlantic City, and she would post so all her friends could see, not knowing that the man she was lying beside was scum.
“Chill the fuck out, Sheena. I keep telling you that shit is busy right now.” He closed the door behind them and locked it. “Always yapping… you need to be prepping that jaw.”
Her bird ass laughed and accepted what he said. I’d be damned if my God baby ever settled for some shit like this.
Cherry was going to walk around with her head held high. I didn’t even want to think about when she would date, but I knew any person she dated would need to go through a bunch of Gods before getting near her.
Same applied to Peach too.
“Eww, don’t be like that.” She tripped over her heels and flipped the lights on. “Ahhhh!”
She screamed when she saw me sitting on the couch. “What up?”
Casey Stewarts stood there like he had seen a ghost and it fucked his face. Soon as he tried to turn to run out the door, Khaos was there to block his path. He had moved in front of the door when shorty flicked the lights on.
“Casey, what up?” I repeated myself.
His girl was hyperventilating because she was so damn nervous. I sat there, calm, with one gloved hand on top of the other. “Fuc…Fuck you doing in my crib?”
“I believe it’s Sheena’s apartment… my dear, this yo shit, right?”
She was shaking but nodded her head up and down. “You know you have to die, right?”
Her eyes became larger than life, and she went to open her mouth, and I held my hand up. “Scream and I’ll snatch yo tongue from your pussy foot mouf.”
“The fuck this shit about?” Mr. Stewarts suddenly wanted to hold a conversation.
He wanted to be civil when being civil was the last thing on my mind. When I left this apartment, only two of us would live to be civil the next day.
