Good, not-so-clean fun.
The dicks-periment seemed like dirty fun when he’d agreed.
Of course, he felt he’d had a leg up (pun!), given that Luca had reported that Grayson and Rowan had already implied that he was ahead in thegame.
All he had to do was convince the others of his winning technique, and he’d be a shoo-in. He liked to hear he was the “best” at something, sure, but when Luca had upped the ante to include topping foran entire month?
Well, Nix couldn’t lose now.
No way, no how. He’d die, and then the world would collapse. His children would cry. Sunday nights would be ruined. Nope, he had to win; there was no other option.
Hence, the “to his own detriment” portion of the competition. Of course, he’d forgotten that Geminis were notoriously competitive and that Luca Wilde was even more so than the average twink.
Add to it that Luca is bound to be motivated by his tarnished perfect record and thwarted genius-level ego. Well. Nix had better bring his A-game (or was thatD-game?). Or that’s what Luca had told him before he’d pinched his butt, kissed his cheek, and disappeared up the library’s stairs.
Nix hadn’t warned him that Finn was asleep, because all’s fair in love and bets. There was a loud smack, and the growling alpha’s angry diatribe was followed by a squeal and a slammed door.
Nix had to laugh as quietly as he could, though, because the only thing worse than a sore loser was a bad winner.
“That was mean,” Finn calls from upstairs.
Nix checks that the kids are still outside, and Gideon is offering juice and snacks from a small cooler bag. They’re sitting in the grass, and Gideon has replaced his parenting book with one about loving them to the moon and back.
It’s his favorite.
Nix thinks he might have enough time to ply his wares with Dr. Merritt if he has the Goddess’s favor.
Nix takes the stairs to Finn’s room two at a time, where he’s lying like a nerdy, debauched god. He drops his phone on the nightstand just in time for Nix to launch himself from ten feet away directly into his arms.
“Have you been awake up here the whole time, Dr. Merritt?”
“Fuck, no. You wore me out. Luc justwoke me up from a dead sleep. I’ll probably be sorry later that I spooked him.”
“Probably?” Nix asks and throws a leg over his mate’s hips.
Finn almost always sleeps with his pajamas on. A t-shirt and sleep pants are common, but this morning, he is still handsome and bare from their night before.
“Or not. How are the kids?” He asks as he slides his hand around the back of Nix’s neck, intent on drawing Nix in for a kiss.
Nix’s lips are almost on Finn’s when he flashes him an image of the kids outside over their mental link. “They’re outside with Artem and Gideon. We have a few minutes.”
“We do? For what, pray tell?” Finn smirks, and it presses Nix’s buttons like it does every time.
“Well…” Nix lowers his voice and reaches for Finn’s glasses from the nightstand so he can place them gentlyonthe doctor’s nose. “I was wondering if I could show you how much I missed you.”
“You missed me? You got up from this bed two hours ago.”
It’s still a long time,Nix says over their mental link, pouting and making his eyes extra wide. Finn doesn’t stand a chance.
“I missed you, too, Nix.”
Yeah? Then you won’t mind if I help myself. He smiles, slow and dangerous.I’m hungry for you this morning.
Nix grabs the edge of the blanket and pulls it down while he backs up toward the end of the bed. He pulls the elastic from around his wrist and ties his hair up over his head while Finn watches, enraptured.
It’s one of the things the alpha loves best—when Nix shows off his slim neck and his mating bites.
Maybe Nix can win this thing easily, after all. He pauses and thinks loud and clear,I’m going to keep my clothes on while you just lie back and let me make you feel good, Dr. Merritt.
