I look around the darkness that surrounds us, and something about it seems strangely familiar.
Comforting almost.
Just as my mind is about to put the pieces together, a dark shape starts to move in the darkness.
My intuition spikes, and without giving it much thought, I jump in front of Aldrastos as he raises his sword to attack.
He stares down at me incredulously, and looks down at me with fear in his eyes, “I could have hurt you. Are you fucking crazy?”
“Yes, but we can talk about that later. You’re not in danger right now,” I reply.
He growls, which is hotter than it should be. “It’s too late, get behind me.”
“No,” I reply, while the guys chuckle, knowing it's never a good thing to tell me what to do.
Ignoring him, I spin on my heel and move toward the shape that’s coming toward us cautiously. I feel Aldrastos’ fingers graze my hand, a jolt ofawareness runs through me, making me pause momentarily before I shake it off and continue.
The figure emerges, the darkness lifting slightly, and I smile.
“Laikynn, it’s good to see you, friend,” I grin.
“And you, I told you that I would see you soon,” he retorts, his eyes smiling at me.
“What are you doing here?” I ask with a confused frown.
“Impossible,” Aldrastos exclaims. “How are you conversing with him?”
I ignore him, my eyes glued to Laikynn as the pieces start to fall into place.
He watches me closely as he replies, “I’m always here.”
My eyes widen as the pieces slam together, “The Void.”
