She came back a few minutes later with a pile of clothing, a pair of dark work boots on top. “Five polo shirts, three pairs of trousers, two hoodies and gloves. You need to be in uniform when you’re working. Write your name on the labels. I’ll order you a jacket if you last long enough to need one.”
She handed everything to Ru. “You don’t even have riding boots or a helmet?”
“No, ma’am.”
She rolled her eyes.
“What are my hours?” Ru asked.
“Whatever Paolo says.”
“How many days a week do I work?”
“Whatever Paolo says.”
Ru held back his sigh. “I need to go to a supermarket, preferably one with a home section. I don’t have bed linen or towels.” And a whole lot of other stuff.
“You have use of the car. Ask Mike about that. There’s a Tesco in Dorchester that’s open 24 hours.”
“Thank you.” Ru turned to go.
“How did you meet Jasim?”
“Whatever he says.” Ru left before she said anything else.
