"They're not bunnies," Tyr protested, his expression growing more dignified. "They're rare magical creatures.."

The laughter grew louder, breaking some of the earlier tension in the room. Even Aleksei's stern expression softened into something approaching amused exasperation.

The moment of shared amusement dissolved, and gravity settled over the room as Joe rose to his feet. The alpha wolf shifter's grim expression matched Aleksei's as he took his place beside the vampire at the head of the table arrangement.

"The threats we face come from three distinct sources," Joe's deep voice carried easily through the quiet room. "First, we have scientific and government interests. They'll wrap their motivations in pretty phrases about research and the greater good." His lip curled slightly. "But what they really want is to study us, experiment on us, find ways to weaponize our abilities for military applications."

Ice flooded Beth's veins. Her arms wrapped around herself instinctively, as if she could shield herself from the ugliness conveyed in those words.

"Second," Joe continued, his voice hardening, "are the anti-shifter hate groups. They're driven by fear and prejudice. Their goal isn't to study us - they want to eliminate us entirely."

Beth's leopard snarled internally at the threat, even as her human side recoiled from the malice behind such sentiment. Shecaught Tyr's intense gaze flicking toward her, as if he'd sensed her visceral reaction to the mention of those hate groups.

"Finally," Joe's expression turned calculating, "we have collectors and traffickers. These are possibly the most dangerous because they're motivated purely by greed. To them, we're valuable commodities to be captured, sold, and displayed as status symbols among their twisted circles."

Katerina shifted in her chair, clearing her throat. "Actually, there's another category we should probably consider."

All eyes turned to the Maine Coon shifter. Beth noticed the mischievous glint in her friend's golden eyes, so different from her usual artistic focus.

"I've been getting correspondence from a group that..." Katerina paused dramatically, her wild dark hair seeming to crackle with suppressed amusement. "Er... wants to worship me as their goddess."

Beside her, Troy dropped his face into his hands with a groan. Beth couldn't help the giggle that escaped her. The tension in the room broke as others joined in the laughter. Even Aleksei's stern expression cracked slightly, though he quickly schooled his features back to professional neutrality.

Beth stifled another laugh as Tobi's hand shot into the air, his blue eyes sparkling with the same mischief she often saw in Katerina's.

"Ooh, can I go public too? I would totally be up for being worshipped as a god." He struck an exaggerated pose.

Beside him, Tyr snickered and shook his head. "They'd probably stake you instead, brother." His lips quirked in amusement. "Though that might improve your personality."

Aleksei's expression darkened, his green eyes boring into Tobi with glacial disapproval. The temperature in the room seemed to drop several degrees under that withering glare.Tobi's theatrical pose wilted slightly, though his irrepressible grin remained firmly in place.

Beth watched, intrigued, as Antonio stirred from his quiet observation. The ancient vampire opened a sleek laptop with graceful movements, his long fingers moving across the keyboard with practiced ease. His formal bearing and impeccable Italian suit contrasted sharply with the casual atmosphere Tobi and Tyr had created moments before.

"We are establishing a contact roster," Antonio's cultured voice carried subtle hints of an Italian origin. "For each shift, we require one representative on-call from the vampires, shifters, and Djinn. While vampires cannot serve during daylight hours, we need updates about daytime incidents relayed to the vampire coming on duty at nightfall."

Beth's attention was caught by the sudden change in the twins' demeanor. The change in the brothers was instant, their matching grins vanishing as they snapped to attention, gazes locked on the ancient vampire.

Their obvious respect for Antonio made Beth wonder about the hierarchy among the vampires. Though Aleksei was officially second-in-command, something about Antonio clearly commanded a deeper level of deference from the twins.

Approval crossed Jake's face at Antonio's suggestion, Joe nodding in agreement beside him.

"I'll work up a schedule and send it to you, Antonio," Jake said, already pulling out his phone. "We can coordinate coverage across all three groups."

The three Djinn huddled together in quiet discussion. Beth's sensitive hearing caught fragments of their melodic voices, though she couldn't make out the actual words. After a moment, Arthur straightened from their huddle, his silver-streaked hair catching the lamplight.

"I'll take tonight's shift," the elderly Djinn announced, his weathered face creasing in a gentle smile. "Then we will get you a roster."

Jake glanced up from his phone. "Alex Metaxas will be our shifter contact tonight." He looked around the room. "Everyone has Alex's number, right?"

Heads nodded around the table. Beth had gotten Alex's contact information earlier that week when he'd stopped by the clinic to discuss security arrangements with Douglas.

Aleksei's stern gaze swept across the table to fix on Tobi. "You will be on call tonight," he stated, his accent giving the words a crisp authority.

"Cool, I'll be the vampire on call." Tobi's face lit up with his usual infectious enthusiasm.

"VOC!" Tyr's eyes sparkled with sudden inspiration. "We need t-shirts!"

The twins' hands met in a resounding high-five that made Beth jump slightly in her seat. Apparently catching her movement, Tyr flickered a wink her direction.
