He nods, reaching into his pocket. “This is something else. Something I’ve been carrying around for weeks, waiting for the right time.”
My breath catches in my throat as he pulls out a small velvet box.
“Aaron,” I whisper, my heart beating wildly in my chest.
He opens the box, revealing a stunning vintage ring with a center diamond surrounded by smaller stones. “It was my grandmother’s,” he says, dropping down to one knee. “I’ve been holding onto it for years, never thought I’d find someone I wanted to give it to.”
Tears blur my vision as he takes the ring from the box and holds it up.
“Savannah Williams,” he says, his gray eyes never leaving mine. “Will you marry me?”
“Yes!” I throw my arms around his neck, nearly knocking him off balance. “Yes, yes, yes!”
He laughs, steadying us both as he gets to his feet. “Let me put the ring on you, crazy woman.”
I hold out my shaking left hand, and he slides the ring onto my finger. It fits perfectly, like it was meant to be here all along.
“It’s beautiful,” I breathe, admiring the way the diamonds catch the light.
“Doesn’t hold a candle to the woman wearing it,” he says, pulling me close again.
The moment is interrupted by a knock on the door.
“You two decent in there?” Cleo’s voice calls out, followed by giggles that sound like Demi and McKenna.
Aaron rolls his eyes. “NO!” he calls back as I yell, “Yes!”
The door bursts open, and Cleo, Demi, and McKenna spill into the room, their eyes immediately going to my left hand.
“She said yes!” Cleo squeals, clapping her hands together.
Demi rushes forward, grabbing my hand to examine the ring. “Oh my God, it’s gorgeous!”
“Did you tell him about the baby?” McKenna asks, her eyes darting between me and Aaron.
“Baby?” Demi’s head snaps up, her eyes wide. “What baby?”
I shoot McKenna a look. She only knows because Cleo let it slip.
“You’re pregnant?” Demi squeaks, her hand flying to her mouth.
Aaron’s arm tightens around my waist, and I can feel the pride radiating off him. “Yep. My wife’s having my baby.”
“We’re not married yet.” I giggle.
“Technicality,” he counters as the girls descend on me, hugging and squealing.
“We have to tell everyone!” Cleo declares, grabbing my hand. “Come on!”
Before I can protest, the girls are dragging me back toward the main room, Aaron following close behind. We burst back into the party, and Cleo whistles loudly to get everyone’s attention.
“Listen up, everyone!” she shouts over the music. “Rambler and Pinky have an announcement!”
The music cuts out, and all eyes turn to us. I feel my cheeks heat up.
Aaron steps forward, wrapping his arm around my shoulders. “My ol’ lady just made me the happiest man alive,” he announces, his voice carrying across the now-silent room. “She said yes.”
He holds up my left hand, showing off the ring, and the crowd erupts in cheers. Brothers come forward to slap him on the back, while all the women in the room gather around me, admiring the ring and offering congratulations.
