Myclimax bathed me in golden light, reaching over every inch of my skin, from the tips of my horns to the ends of my toes.Everywave sent more of me into her untilIcould feel it leaking out around me.

“Untilyou break this world apart,Princess.”

Ilayin the ashes of the cave, the smoldering embers of the forest warm against my skin.Afteran eternity of the cold stars, nothing felt as divine as their infernal heat.Well, almost nothing.

Ilifted up on my elbows to watch asToriplunged herself into what remained of the spring.Itsedges swirled with debris and ash, and the water was no longer glowing.Iheard her gasp as she breached the surface, flipping her hair away from her face.Theside of her head over her right ear was burned, and the hair there was gone.Itonly helped to accentuate the sharp line of her jaw, the beautiful curve of her lips, and the long line of her neck.Sherose up out of the water slowly with liquid clinging to her, highlighting the curve of her breasts and the muscles that shaped over her hip leading down to that perfect patch of hair between her legs.

Shewas a vision.Ihad to remind myselfIhad not died, and this was not my heaven.Thegods had deemed to bless me with her in this life, even though she was clearly meant for something greater than this world.Shesaw me staring and smiled; the universe split itself open in awe of her.Hersteps were silent as small puffs of ash swirled around her feet.

“Mygoddess, what has this humble mortal done to deserve your divine presence?”

Sheknelt down beside me and rolled her eyes. “Byall accounts, you are the god here,Abraxas.”

“Donot let such heresies cross those perfect lips, my love.”Ilaced my fingers with hers and pulled her close so her wet body slid against my chest.Igentlykissed her. “Ican only hope that this loyal servant can worship you in the ways that you deserve.Iwould lay my life at the altar of your power if you so desired.”

“Dramaticreptile.”Shesmiled at me again, the stars aligned, and she pulled me into a deep kiss that was the beginning and the end of everything.

Sheheld me close, andIlet my fingers slowly trace the curve of her lower back.Itrailed kisses down her neck untilIcame to the beautiful markIhad left on her.Isnaked my tongue over her sweet skin, and she shivered.

Sheran her hands through my hair until she grazed the base of my horns.Itwas my turn to tremble.Shetraced up its length, feeling every groove and bump until she came to the very tip.Shepressed it into the soft pad of her finger and pulled it back; a small drop of red blood welled up in the small cut.

Igrasped her palm gently before pulling that digit into my mouth, not wanting to waste a single drop of her.Shelaughed. “GoodthingIcan feel some of the mana returning to the earth here.I’dneed it to fight you off again.”

Icontinued to lavish her finger for a moment more. “Ihave told you before, my love.Nomatter how hard you fight, you will never be rid of me.Iwould chase you to the very ends of this earth.”

“Dramatic,” she said again, but it was with a soft smile as she leaned in to press her lips to mine.Whenshe pulled back, it had changed into something much more wicked.

“Howwould you feel about being a bit more dramatic?”Ifelt the power of the earth swell into me again through her in a way thatIhadn’t felt in five hundred years.Itwas raw and unrestrained and tasted of her.Icouldn’t help but mirror her wicked grin.

Chapter 35

Pallas

Weclustered on the frigid beach, a tight circle with fires every ten feet to keep the dark at bay.Evenwith their warm light, the stars above seemed to burn brighter, like they were lying in wait, just like us.Thegreat river soared across the center of the sky, reminding me of how very smallIwas.

Thegroup was subdued.Sometried to sleep, but most just watched the sky and the island.Notan hour before,Ithought we were seeing another aurora, but instead, the top of the island glowed that acidic greenIwas becoming all too familiar with.Junhuddled close to me as the flames reached to the sky like the volcano that slept beneath these lands had awoken.

“Sheis going to be alright.”Itwasn’t a question.Hisvoice was the strongestIhad heard in some time.Inour past life, he would have sung me a song to express his feelings.Iknew that wouldn’t happen now.Itmight not ever happen again.

Hemight never sing for me, butIcould sing for him.Mymother had been a woman of scholarship and academia.Shehadn’t cared much for the softer things in life, butIalways remembered the songs she sang to me as a youngling before bed.

In the land where mist and magic sleep,

Where dreams and stars their secrets keep,

Close your eyes, my precious one,

This gentle night has just begun.

In the moonlit glow, you softly lay,

Safe and warm till break of day,

Stars above will watch and keep,

As you drift into peaceful sleep.

Wisps dance in silver light,
