“I shoot straight, too.” He grinned and I needed sunglasses from the glare off his teeth.
“I don’t think we need anyone to do any kind of shooting today,” I said, making sure he knew I planned to keep things… peaceful.
“How do you plan to do that? I don’t like loose ends.” He shrugged.
“Got a dollar on you?” I asked.
He frowned.
I took a step toward him, but Buck’s hand kept me from going far.
Bobby seemed amused, at least the corner of his mouth tipped up in a small smile, as he reached in his pocket and pulled out his wallet. He held out a five. “That’s all I got.”
I took it. “Thank you for your retainer. You are now a paid client of Wilder Legal of Devil’s Ditch, Montana.” I held my hand out in Hayes’ direction. “Hayes Wilder. Owner. I’m his new employee.”
Bobby didn’t say anything.
“Now that you are my client for a second time, you should feelveryconfident that any confidential information you share with me remains between us.”
“Go on,” Bobby said.
I reached in my coat pocket, pulled out thethumb drive and handed it to him. “There’s what you came for. But as your lawyer, I’ve kept a copy. For safekeeping, you understand. This time, unlike with Jackson Prescott, you know about this copy. You’ve given me permission to keep it.”
He arched a dark brow. “How’ve I done that?”
“By getting on that plane and heading back to New York.”
“And leave you here?”
“And leave me here,” I repeated. “As long as nothing happens to me or my family, we’ll have the best lawyer/client relationship ever.”
He outright smiled now. “Who’s this family you’re talking about? Your parents? Jack–”
“Me and the baby I put in her.” Buck sounded like a caveman, but he wasmycaveman. I stepped back and he moved his hand from my shoulder to wrap around my waist.
Bobby studied me and considered. Eventually, he looked to the guy just behind him and nodded, a signal that they were done.
“Impressive, Ms. Montgomery,” he said. “Impressive.”
Then he turned and walked back to the airplane, his three sidekicks following. Business was over. So was any connection I still had to my old life.

BUCK
“Buck!”Sage cried out into the cold air as I fucked her good and hard.
Bobby Mancuso and his group of thugs got back on their plane and left Montana just as fast as they arrived.
I told Hayes to get a ride back to Devil’s Ditch with Trig or Cam. When everyone was gone, the tarmac empty–even the fuel truck had left–I opened the door for Sage to climb into my truck, but instead of helping her in, I bent her over the seat. My ride was lifted enough where her feet didn’t even reach the ground.
I tugged down her pants, made sure she was wet, then thrust home. Sage was safe. She was mine. No one was going to hurt her. She wasmine.
I needed to feel her heat. To bury myself in her so she knew who she belonged to.
“That’s right. Take it. Take my dick. Take my cum.”
“Oh my God,” she cried out, grabbing hold of the center console to hold on.
