She shrugs. “It wasn’t the wrong thing to do, but it did catch me off-guard a bit.”
“Because you’re having regrets?”
“No, because I’ve never been a man’s girlfriend before.”
“And it’s been a long, long time since I’ve had a girlfriend.”
Mina giggles lightly. “You know, I can’t tell if you saying girlfriend makes me cringe or turns me on.”
I cock an eyebrow. “Let’s find out, shall we girlfriend? Girlfriend, girlfriend, girlfriend.”
She playfully hits my chest as I grab and pull her closer. “Okay, stop! It’s making me cringe so stop, stop, stop!”
I loosen my grip. “Just as well because you need rest.”
“I feel okay,” she says but right on cue, she yawns.
“Lie down,” I say, pointing to the bed.
“Wait.” She puts both of her hands on my chest and I ready myself to gently decline another advance, but it doesn’t come. “I want to tell you that I’ve decided to stay on at HNO and be the lead on the Status campaign, if they’ll have me.”
“You don’t need to explain your decisions to me,” I say.
“I know, but I want you to know that I’m inspired by your decision to switch to teaching but right now, I need more savings, more time before I can make a similar leap.”
I nod. “I understand that.”
“And I’ve never been a lead before,” she says with a hint of a smile. “I want to know if it’s really all that.”
“You’ll be a brilliant lead.” I grasp both her hands with mine.
“It won’t be half as much fun now I won’t be bossing you around, but I’m still sort of excited.”
“You can still boss me around… In the bedroom.”
Her eyes change shape as they darken. “That’s true.”
“But not now,” I insist. “You need to rest and I need to cook.”
Her hands slide out of mine and move down to my waistband. I feel my resolve get thinner by the second.
“What I need, Charlie,” Mina says in a low, husky, lustful voice. “Is you to lie down with me.”
“And rest?”
“Not exactly. I want to fuck your mouth while you fuck your fist.”
“Jesus, Mina.” I practically pant. “But you’re… You’re still recovering.”
“I promise you it will help me feel better,” she says.
“Really?”
“Absolutely.” Her fingers are already busy undoing my fly.
“What about music?” I ask. “Will that help you feel better?”
“That depends.”
