“She just showed up and started helping when we were in the warehouse.” Dash adds.

“She’s not a normal animal and she’s connected to Sage somehow.” Erin adds.

“Change forms Knot, I want a cuddle.” I say to her as I listen to the conversation around me. Within seconds knot has transformed back into her Fox form. She promptly curls up on my lap.

“What the fuck? I know we just saw her do this but WHAT the fuck?” Kai curses.

“I don’t know, honestly. I just know she’s mine and she’s special. When I had my emotions behind a barrier she knew and she used her magic to nudge the barriers.” I explain.

“She’s your familiar.” Thomas says.

“My what?”

“Not here, let’s get back to the house and we will explain once everyone is secure and resting. Your mother is quite desperate to see you.” Joey says.

My heart warms as he mentions my mom being worried about me, I turn to Erin not quite ready to say goodbye.

“Do you want to come back with us?”

“We need to do some catching up of our own!” She winks at me and I grin back despite the sudden sadness at her departure.

“We will do the debriefing at my home in a couple of days if that’s ok with you? That way you girls can catch up.” Micha replies.

“I’d like that.” Erin grins.

We all pile into the SUVs, the guys all insisting on squishing in one with me, and Knot curling up on the front seat before anyone can stop her. I wave goodbye to Erin and her team, my heart lighter now that I know for certain I’ll see them again.

Chapter Twenty-One

Before the car can pull out, the convoy of vehicles that originally went past us, starts coming back and from the brief glances of the occupants that we get, they are all battle worn. A large prison transport vehicle drives past last and I instinctively know, the step bitch, Brent, Mr. Romano and hopefully that bastard of a doctor are all in there. This is finally over. I can finally look forward to my future. When the last vehicle passes, we pull forward and away from that horrible warehouse. The car is quiet as we all just absorb the enormity of the last few days.

All of my guys find small ways to touch me and I’m surprised I’m not literally glowing from the feelings of love and contentment coursing through me. I snuggle deeper into Maverick’s chest. Sighing happily, a yawn overtakes my face, I can’t sleep yet though. I know the minute that my eyes close, I’m going to re-live everything that happened in the warehouse and everything that I remembered about my past. My breathing picks up as the thoughts circle.

“Are you ok, Beautiful?” Kai asks, concern lacing his deep voice as his hand clutches mine tighter.

“I don’t know.” I whisper honestly and sense as the guys all go ridged, tension coiling in their bodies.

“Do you want to tell us about it Darling?” Levi asks gently.

I shake my head. I can’t relive it all yet it’s far too fresh. I know that I have information that they need to know though and soon. I’ll tell them when we get home, it might not be much more time, but it will have to do. I won’t be able to hold off any longer than that.

“I can’t right now, there’s things you need to know though.” I look towards Levi. “Can it wait until we get home?” A small smile graces his lips, as his eyes light up with such a deep emotion that I can’t even name it in my current state.

It takes me a second to realise that his reaction is in response to me calling their house, home. I glance around at the other guys and see the same emotion reflected in each of theirbeautiful eyes.

“Of course, Darling, take as much time as you need.”

“Why don’t you try to get some rest, Sweetheart?” Hunter suggests.

I don’t want to admit just how broken I am right now, so I simply smile lightly at him. I can’t go to sleep.

The journey to the airport isn’t very long and we are soon in the air flying back home. As soon as the plane takes off, Maverick unplugs himself, grabs a bag from the overhead compartment and walks over to me.

“Do you want to take a shower, Titch?”

“God yes!” I nod vigorously. I’m covered in grime and blood and god knows what else.

“Jax packed a bag for you, the shower is back through there.” He says and points to a small door towards the back of the plane.
