“We’re not going to know what we’re dealing with until we’re actually there and even then we won’t know for sure. Just stay on your guard and prepared for anything, is probably the best advice I can give.” Levi orders his voice going deeper for a second.

“I agree, we need to just take it one thing at a time. Let’s just get there first and then we can worry about what’s really going on with the place.” Jax suggests and the guys all grunt in agreement.

I’ve just finished strapping knives to various places on my body that are easily concealed when Hunter approaches me with a small sword.

“I was thinking about what you said about guns not working and I think it might be a good idea for us all to carry swords from now on. Thisis the lightest one we own and I thought it might be a good fit for now until we can get you one made.” He explains holding it out for me.

I take it off him with a smile. There’s just something about swords that I really love. It’s slightly too heavy for my liking but not heavy enough that it’s going to interfere with my ability to use it especially since it’s beautifully made and balanced perfectly. I put it back into the sheath and Hunter helps me strap it to my back. It will be almost completely covered by my jacket with the sword lying diagonally across my back and with the hilt pointing towards my hip. I practice drawing it and make a couple of arcs in the air getting a feel for it.

After a few tries I’ve got the draw down as smoothly as I’m going to get it with a sword that isn’t made for me. The guys each throw me heated looks at various points in my practising but soon turn their attention back to their own weapons. Each of them having swords strapped to their backs too, fortunately because of the size of my guys, they are still able to be concealed by their jackets or coats. Where as all the guys have one sword, Kai has two beautiful, short and slightly curved blades strapped to his back and I can’t wait to see them in action.

Although I imagine it will be a while before I get to see that.

“Your sword has a sister if you want her too?” Hunter says seeing me eye up Kai’s swords.

“Yes please, I like using two!” I reply and he raises an eyebrow.

I’m not going to elaborate on that story right now though. He smiles in understanding and passes me the matching sword and sheath and I quickly put it on.

“Alright guys, load up!” Levi says as soon as I have it strapped on and everything is secure.

We all grab our bags from by the front door and load them in the SUV. We’re still all travelling in the same vehicle since the whole thing with Brent. I’m honestly not ready to have us split again and I don’t think they are either. It’s more than just the cluster fuck that happened with Brent that’s preventing us from travelling separately though. With our Soulmate Tattoo, faded and not complete thanks to my locked down gifts, being away from each other is becoming more and more uncomfortable by the day. If the other SUV got stuck at a stop light or something I’d be feeling the itchy, ache that rapidly turns into something painful the longer they were too far away and they’d experience something similar as well.

We’ve worked out that if it’s only one of them that’s away from me then the ache is manageable but since we’ve spent so much time together the last couple of weeks and although we haven’t gotten as intimate as I did in the bathroom of the plane on the way home with Jax and Kai, we haven’t exactly kept our hands to ourselves either. One of them at least is always touching me and I adore it. The extra contact though seems to be what has heightened our need to be near each other all the time and ouradverse reaction if we aren’t. I’m hoping it calms down when my gifts are unbound and everything is as it should be. I adore being with the guys all the time but I would like to be able to go out for a drink with Erin and gossip without one of them tagging along.

“Sage, are you going to get out Beautiful?” Kai asks softly a slight frown marring his handsome features.

“Yeah sorry, I was in my own world.” I chuckle, only now realising that we are stopped at the airport.

Jax threads his hand in mine and we make our way through the airport. Now that I’m thinking about it, I really don’t understand why we can’t use the Jett. It makes me suspicious.

“Hang on guys before we’re surrounded by people I just want to call Thomas. Something feels off.” I say and then add, “Have we got enough time?”

“Yeah Sweetheart, we’ve got a few minutes.”

“I think it’s a good idea,” Levi adds, his eyes constantly scanning the area, I miss the flash of his red demon eyes.

I understand why he has to wear coloured contacts I just don’t like it and I can’t wait until he takes them out.

Refocusing again I pull out my cell and dial Thomas, when it just rings straight through to voicemail I frown but figure he’s probably in a meeting or something so I try my other two dads neither of them answering either.

“No answer?” Jax asks.

“No, not even Joey and Micha.” I say looking down at my phone and frowning.

“What about your mom?” Kai asks.

“Good idea, I’ll try.” I say already dialling her.

Just like with my dads though it just carries on ringing with no answer.

“That’s unusual. She’s answered every call that you’ve made to her.” Mav comments.

“We need to get going if we’re going to make our flight, what do you want to do?” Levi asks me.

“Let’s carry on with the plan and I’ll try them again when we land.” I reply.

Levi studies my features for a second before nodding and turning to walk into the airport the rest of us following behind him.
