“Potentiallysleeping with him.” She walked her fingers up my chest.

I hadn’t missed the fact that she’d swapped “fucking” for “sleeping.” Not that that made it any more palatable.

“I’d have to lose the bet,” she said. “And I won’t. Trust me. I’ve got it under control.”

I wasn’t sure what that meant, but I assumed she wasn’t going to tell me. I growled, trying not to be distracted despite the blood rushing to my dick. The sight of her brightly colored nails anywhere on my body drove me wild. And the image of her bronzed skin against my own was enough to push me over the edge.

I gripped her hands, lifting them over her head as I trapped her against the wall. Her eyes darkened, and I knew she was turned on. I was determined not to let this conversation go.

“Just the suggestion of it pisses me the fuck off. Surely you can understand that?”

Her lips curved into a smile. “I’m not usually into guys who get possessive or jealous, but I might be wrong.”

“I’m not kidding,” I huffed.

I held her gaze a moment before dropping her arms and turning away. Her casual response felt like a slap to the face, and I didn’t want to say something I’d regret. Not when she had the ability to so easily turn my feelings into a joke.

“We agreed that while we were together, we’d be exclusive,” I ground out, jerking on a pair of athletic shorts.

“True,” she said from behind me. “But I’m sure we’ll tire of each other by then. I mean, that’s still over a month away.”

The problem was, I wasn’t sure I’d ever tire of her. But I kept that thought to myself. It wasn’t technically lying, right?
