There’s a lot we need to do, including find out what she is, but at this moment, it’s all worth it. It’ll always be worth it to have my perfect mate with me.
Twenty Two
Aly
Nic and I finally head downstairs after some quality time together. It felt valuable to get what Jeremy and I didn’t the first time. Time to cement the bond and just enjoy it. I’m nervous to tell the rest of the guys. Jeremy probably won’t care since he already has his bond but the other three will probably be jealous. And I completely get that, but I want the rest of the bonds to come naturally, not be forced.
As soon as we walk in the kitchen hand in hand four heads jerk up immediately. Jeremy’s smirk is knowing, he probably felt it when it happened but the other three are shocked. I’m not sure how they could tell right away but then I remember my arm. I glance down at the new, beautiful mark and realize any supernatural I meet now will know I’m mated to a mage.
Jeremy’s isn’t as visible but he did say I will give off a dark vibe to other supernaturals to let them know I’m mated to a demon. Which is more subtle than Nic’s mark.
“What happened?” Jeremy asks since the other three are shocked silent.
“We don’t actually know,” Nic responds.
That breaks them out of it and Jay and Kiran shout over each other.
“What do you mean you don’t know?” Jay shouts.
“How can you not know?” Kiran asks.
Jeremy’s eyes go a little dark and I can see his demon seeping through.
“Did you do it without her permission Nic?” He asks and while I appreciate his protectiveness of me, I don’t want this to get out of hand.
I step forward and their eyes all shoot to me before going back to glaring at Nic.
“Calm down, he didn’t do it,” I start but Jay cuts me off.
“Did you tell her that?” Then he turns his attention to me, “Aly Kat a mating bond is a conscious choice for a mage. He has to recite a spell for it to click.”
I put a hand up to stop him, “I know, okay? He explained that and he didn’t say any spell.”
“Well how could you have a mate bond then?” Kiran asks.
Jax has been silent up until this point but a look of total clarity comes over his face before he says, “Aly.”
Kiran shoots his brother a glare, “yes Aly is right there, are you okay? We’ve been talking about her this whole time.”
Jax rolls his eyes, “no it’s Aly. We keep ignoring the fact that Aly is supernatural too. She must have triggered the bond if Nic didn’t and come on guys you know and trust Nic, think about what you’re accusing him of.”
Kiran, Jay and Jeremy give Nic an apologetic face and he forgives them with a nod. I think he understands how crazy this all is for all of us.
“So, is that what you two think happened?” Jay asks.
I turn to Nic since he thought of the theory first and he steps in.
“Yes we do, but we don’t know how. It wasn’t triggered like any species I know.”
They all stare at me curiously and suddenly I feel awkward. What does that mean for me?
“It’s okay baby, we will figure it out, I promise,” Kiran says.
I give him a weak smile in response.
“I think we need to talk about how each species mates, so there are no more surprises,” Nic suggests.
“And then you can tell us what happened when your mating bond was triggered in case it helps us figure it out, or avoid something in the future, until we are ready,” Jax says giving me a soft smile. I love that he wants to respect my choice in all this.
