“No!” They all shout.
“Sorry Aly, but if they’re behind this, they clearly didn’t want you knowing. Who knows what they’ll do if you confront them,” Jax adds.
“Aly, a while back you told us you don’t know what your parents do, is that true?” Kiran asks.
And for the first time I realize how truly strange it is that I don’t know what they do for a living. I realize how many times I should have pushed or asked them again but just decided not to.
I glance up at them, “I think part of the memory spell was in play because I never pushed and I accepted their non answers. So that means it’s something supernatural, right?”
“Probably,” Nic answers. They’re all watching me closely, clearly realizing how crazy this is. My parents are or do something related to supernaturals and I have no idea what. They clearly want to keep me away from it with all these spells, but why?
We finish training and it’s clear there is nothing for them to teach me. We agree to keep practicing together, though, and see if anything else comes up.
I’m about to head back to the apartment to watch Big House with Anna. I asked the guys to stay behind because Anna texted me that Ryan can’t come. We will have to try for another time. I’m bummed but Jeremy seemed excited at the news. He stands by the fact that he doesn’t like Ryan but from the few times I’ve met him, I think he’s great. That’s probably why Jeremy doesn’t like him.
They all give me a quick kiss goodbye and sad eyes for leaving.
“Don’t look at me like that! I’ll be back tomorrow,” I promise.
The more time we spend all together the harder it is to leave. I want them with me all the time but I refuse to get completely wrapped up in my relationships. Even if it’s an unconventional relationship with five guys, I need to maintain a life outside it.
Anna has been super cool with me being gone so much but I still need to prioritize time with her. Plus, I need that time with Anna, it helps me work through my feelings with the guys.
Twenty Four
Aly
Time just Anna and I was great, I ended up staying home a few days with her and just seeing the guys during the day. Oddly enough, both bonds have settled more since I bonded Nic. I thought I would be starting all over again, but I’m not.
I’m heading over to the guys place to spend some time with Kiran. He asked me for help with math and I’m looking forward to some time with just him.
I get to the door and before I can knock, Kiran is there, radiating excited energy.
“Aly, you’re here! Finally!” He reaches in and gives me a hug and a quick kiss on my cheek before grabbing my hand and dragging me in behind him.
“Hi Kiran, good to see you too,” I say around a laugh.
He’s practically hauling me behind him, trying to get me to move faster.
“Come on Aly Kat, I need to get you in my room before anyone else realizes you’re here and tries to steal you away, or join.”
“You didn’t tell anyone I was coming?” I ask.
He stares at me like I’m crazy, “of course not I want some quality time with my girl.”
Something in me melts at that, I love him calling me his girl.
“To study,” I say sternly.
“Sure, of course, I wouldn’t dream of anything else,” he responds airily.
We finally make it up to his room and he shuts the door behind me as soon as I’m through it.
I laugh before glancing around for a spot to settle, he makes the decision easy by settling on his bed.
I set my backpack down at the end of the bed and take a minute to look around his room. It radiates Kiran and I love it. It smells like his sweet oaky scent, emanates comfort and is full of fun fixtures. He’s got random little, colorful statues mixed around and posters on the walls.
“What do you think?” He interrupts my perusal by asking.
