We all eat up and after I finish my first, I realize Jay is on his fourth. He catches me staring with a raised brow so he explains.
“I’ve, uh, been down playing how much I eat in front of you but now that you know I’m a wolf, you should know I eat like one too. I’m basically always hungry.”
Nic chimes in, “we all eat more than humans, actually. Although, Jay eats the most. We haven’t noticed if you do?” He ended that on a question clearly for me to answer. Does he think I might be supernatural too?
“Uh, I don’t think I do, are you asking because you think I’m not human? If I eat a normal amount would that mean I’m not supernatural?” I ask.
“We don’t really know Aly, it could mean something is repressing your supernatural side. We think someone doesn’t want you to know about it. We can look into it. Let’s wait and talk about it after dinner,” Nic responds and I’m glad to have him, them, on my side.
I’m not sure if I want to be only human or not, but a small part of me wonders what it would be like to be supernatural.
We finish up dinner with some small talk and it’s so nice I almost forget there’s more to discuss. I was just starting to digest some of this information but now I need to get more handed to me.
We are all staring down at empty plates, avoiding what comes next but we need to address it. It’s clearly important to them that I know what else is going on.
“Should we move to the living room and finish the conversation we started?” I ask reluctantly.
They all know what I’m talking about immediately, nodding and standing up. We drop our dishes off on the way to the kitchen then make our way to the living room.

I make my way over to the couch and sit down, the rest of them finding spots all around me. They’re all waiting on me, to decide when I’m ready and while I needed the break, I want to hear the rest. I need to know everything they have to tell me before I can form any real conclusions.
“Okay, let’s finish, what else is there?” I ask.
Once again they divert to Nic and he continues, “well, we tried to tell you about us being supernaturals, before you,” he pauses and sounds less sure when he continues, “passed out.”
“Is that why I passed out? From shock?” I ask.
Nic shakes his head, “no, you had a memory spell on you. One designed to make you forget anything supernatural.”
“Had?” I ask, my thoughts catching on that word and why I can now have this conversation if there was a spell stopping it before.
“Had,” he confirms, “I removed it,” he’s about to continue but I break in with my question first.
“Why would I have a spell like that on me?”
“Well, we think you’re supernatural too but we don’t know what. And clearly someone wanted to hide that from you, with this spell.”
Okay, my mind is officially blown. Me? A supernatural? I haven’t done anything supernatural before in my life. But would I have known if I had this spell on me? I sit back, assuming this was the big bomb they needed to drop and relax back into the couch to process but Kiran speaks up.
“There’s more Aly, I’m sorry.”
“More? What more could there possibly be?! I have five supernatural mates who think I’m also supernatural and someone put a spell on me so I wouldn’t realize it!” I’m shouting, a little hysterical.
Nic and Jeremy share a look before Nic continues.
“I know it’s a lot, I’m sorry Aly. It was a really complicated spell to remove and once I started, I had to finish it. But, it didn’t go smoothly and you started to die on us from the strain of it. Whoever put this spell on you clearly never wanted it removed, and doing so was going to kill you.”
“Oh shit, so I didn’t pass out, I almost died?” I ask.
“Yes, and it was incredibly scary for all of us,” Jay responds, his eyes haunted.
“So why didn’t I die?” I whisper.
“Demon blood is incredibly powerful in a spell and even has healing properties, so by adding Jeremy’s blood to yours, we were able to save you,” Nic adds facing Jeremy who looks like he might pass out.
