We all agreed that since he’s the highest contact Blaze knows, he’s a good spot to start looking. He has to have superiors he’s in contact with.
“Got it,” Aksel replies, his brow furrowed in concentration. His fingers trace lazy circles on my back, maintaining the facade of our intimate embrace.
The air is thick with tension as Blaze’s fight finally begins.
But now, as Blaze steps into the ring, Hammer’s demeanor changes. Hammer’s eyes lock onto him with an intensity that sends shivers down my spine. It feels like he’s seeing something more than just a fighter – like he’s looking at a prize he’s desperate to claim.
“Anna,” Aksel whispers against my ear, his voice laced with concern. “Look at him. He’s completely fixated on Blaze.”
“I see it,” I reply, trying to keep my voice steady.
Aksel’s fingers tighten around my waist.
As we watch, Hammer takes out his phone, his gaze never leaving Blaze as he dials a number and puts the device to his ear. The look on his face is one of pure calculation, and I can’t help but worry about what this could mean for Blaze and us.
“Did you see that?” I whisper urgently to Aksel. “He’s making a call, and he hasn’t taken his eyes off Blaze for a second.”
Aksel nods, his expression grim. “I did. We need to know who he’s talking to.”
“We have to get our hands on that phone.”
The deafening roar of the crowd fades into a dull hum as I watch Blaze deliver the final blow to his opponent. His powerful form, muscles straining with each movement, is a sight to behold.
Felix moves closer to Blaze.
Our time is running out, we need to leave when they do and Blaze has no reason to stick around.
“Okay,” I whisper to Aksel, my breath hitching in my throat. “They’re on their way out. We need that phone. How do we get it?”
A bead of sweat trickles down my spine, anxiety gnawing at the edges of my mind. Aksel nods, his own concern mirrored in his expression. He watches Hammer closely, calculating our next move.
“Next fight,” he murmurs lowly, so only I can hear. “If he does the same thing, we’ll have a distraction ready. We’ll get that phone. For now, we leave with Blaze and Felix.”
I want to argue but I know he’s more qualified to make this decision.
“Okay,” I reply, my heart pounding in anticipation. The weight of our situation weighs heavily on us both, but we refuse to be crushed by it.
We make our way to the exit just in time to leave with Blaze and Felix.

The moon is full tonight, giving us a good view. We crouch on the edge of a rooftop, Griffyn and I as we watch over the warehouse Blaze is fighting in tonight.
“Nothing seems off,” I murmur, my voice barely carrying over the hiss of the wind. Below, figures slip in and out of the warehouse. They’re all supernaturals.
I haven’t seen a human anywhere near here, yet.
“Does it bother you?” Griffyn asks, his gaze flicking to mine. “Being here instead of in there?”
“Immensely,” I confess, my hands clenched into fists. “But it’s necessary.”
“Agreed.” Griffyn exhales slowly, a plume of breath curling into the night. “Next time we will be with Anna and Blaze. Felix and Aksel will be stuck behind on surveillance.”
My senses stretch out, straining for any hint of danger, any whisper of a threat but I don’t find anything.
“Was it… was it hard being locked up for so long?” Griffyn asks softly.
