“Is that so?” I murmur, casting a glance around the table. My eyes linger on each of my mates, searching for signs of their arousal. The thought of having such power over them sends a shiver down my spine.

“Indeed,” Felix replies, his voice playful yet serious. “It’s a testament to the strength of their willpower.”

A phone dings, drawing everyone’s attention. When I realize it’s Blaze’s phone, I go stiff in Felix’s lap.

The weight of the silence in the room is oppressive as I watch Blaze’s brows furrow, his jaw clenching tightly.

“Fight in thirty minutes,” Blaze says.

My heart races at the thought, sending an icy chill down my spine.

“Alright, everyone,” Aksel finally says, breaking the silence. “We have a plan for tonight. Anna and Rion, you’re going to use your speed to steal Hammer’s phone if he makes a call during the fight. Griffyn, you’ll be with Blaze.”

“Okay,” I agree quietly, trying to push aside my fears. “Let’s do this.”

“Stay focused, stay fast, and let’s get out of there as quickly as possible,” Rion adds, his green eyes serious and intense. He seems comfortable in the role he’s falling into with the team.

We all get up from the table, the playfulness from dinner completely gone, and get ready.

As we make our way toward the fight location, I can sense the tension radiating from Blaze.

When we arrive, the atmosphere is electric with anticipation. As Blaze and Griffyn move to their positions, Rion and I exchange a nod before slipping off in search of Hammer.

“Remember, we’re using our speed to our advantage,” Rion reminds me in a whisper. “And if things go sideways, we’ll have each other’s backs.”

“Right,” I murmur, my heart pounding in my chest as we blend into the crowd.

The dank air of the underground fight club envelops me as Rion and I slip through the crowd, our steps light and purposeful. The atmosphere is thick with tension and anticipation, a familiar sensation that reminds me of the last time Aksel and I were here.

As we navigate our way through the sea of seedy characters, I notice a few of them casting looks of respect or fear Rion’s way. It dawns on me that they must have known Killian. Considering Killian’s reputation as a ruthless and powerful vampire, their reactions make sense.

“Rion,” I say quietly, grabbing his arm and leaning in closer, “Are you worried about being recognized as Killian?”

He frowns, his green eyes flickering with unease. “A bit, but if they think I’m just as dangerous as Killian, it could work in our favor.”

“Let’s hope so,” I reply, feeling a shiver run down my spine at the thought of the potential dangers we could face tonight.

My senses are on high alert, every sound and movement amplified by my heightened vampire senses. I focus on the faces around me, trying to gauge whether anyone could be useful.

The fight begins, and Blaze follows the plan, trying to drag it out so that we have more time to find our target.

The initial clash of bodies and fists sends a wave of adrenaline rushing through the room. His opponent, a burly man with tattoos snaking up his arms, lunges forward with surprising speed. Still, Blaze is prepared, dodging each attack with practiced ease. He doesn’t strike back just yet, instead focusing on defense and tiring his adversary out.

“Blaze is doing well,” Rion observes, his voice strained.

I spot Hammer in the crowd and point him out to Rion.

Hammer pulls out his phone and begins dialing a number. The gleam in his eye as he watches Blaze’s every move sends a chill down my spine. This is it – the moment we’ve been waiting for.

“Ready?” Rion asks, his voice barely audible above the din of the crowd.

“Let’s go,” I reply, my eyes locked on Hammer. The time for hesitation is over.

With swift precision, Rion steps forward and lands a solid punch on a burly man standing nearby. The man reels back in surprise, anger flashing in his eyes as he readies himself to retaliate. I use my vampire speed, darting through the room and landing quick blows on several unsuspecting patrons. The tension that was once focused solely on Blaze’s fight now spills out into the crowd, creating a frenzy of aggression and violence.

“Over here,” I whisper to Rion, slipping away to the edge of the room where I can keep an eye on Hammer. Rion joins me moments later, his breaths coming in shallow pants as the chaos unfolds around us.

“Nice work,” he says, nodding toward the brawl we’ve instigated. “Now we just need to wait for our opening.”
