I grunt.
“You don’t have to talk to me about what a screw-up you are.”
Grunt.
“How you failed your mate.”
Louder grunt.
“The mess you’ve dragged us into.”
Growl.
“The fact that Anna will reject you.”
My hands clench and I shoot out of my chair ready to pound into him. I grab him by the collar and bring him nose to nose.
“She should reject you. Right?” Rion asks.
“I fucking know! I brought her into this. I dragged everyone into this. It’s my fault. I thought I could handle it and I failed. I failed!”
My chest heaves as I pant and my entire body shakes.
I toss him away from me.
“You’re right. You did. Now, what are you going to do about it?” Rion hisses.
I stop and stare at him. My mind stops working for a second before rebooting.
“What am I going to do about it?” I repeat dumbly.
“Right. What are you going to do to fix this? To make it up to Anna and win her back,” Rion asks.
“Why do you give a fuck?” I snap back.
Rion sighs and sits back down. His calmness infuriates me.
“Because I love Anna and she wants you. That much is obvious. She didn’t throw you to the wolves as she should have, instead she wants to protect you. So, I want you to earn that devotion from her.”
I really wish I could hate him.
I want to snarl and leave this conversation more than almost anything. The only thing I want more is to deserve Anna and make her my mate.
“Fine. How do I earn Anna back?” I grit the words through my teeth.
Rion nods like I’ve done something right. Then, he shrugs. “I don’t have the answers. I only know you should grovel and be on perfect behavior until she tells you otherwise.”
I take a deep breath. “That’s an annoying answer.”
“Yup, but it’s all I have.”
I grunt, leave Rion behind, and head to the room I’ve claimed as my own.
The sounds of Anna’s pleasure only get louder as I make my way up the stairs. I can’t stand to sit there and listen so I turn around and go back to Rion.
He’s still sitting in the living room.
“Want to fight?” I ask gruffly.
