“Move, Diana,” Novax snarls.
Thank god. It’s Just as I thought, he needs me—Diana—alive. For what? I don’t even want to know, but it’s enough to give me the hope she’s not dead. Yet.
“No. Take me, but leave him out of it.”
I step back, about to lean over Malec’s chest to whisper to him to get the hell out of here—
But he’s already gone from behind me.
He steps past me—too fast, too smooth—like he’s gliding, not walking. One flick of his hand, sharp and effortless, and the gun tears from Novax’s grip as if yanked by an invisible force. It clatters to the floor with a metallic crash, but I barely register it.
Because what the hell did I just see?
Novax grabs his throat, gasping something I can’t understand before collapsing, unconscious.
“No!” I run to Malec.
“You killed my only chance to find Diana on time!”
I reach for his arm instinctively, but he steps back fast before I can even brush it, retreating to the other side of the room.
“He’s not dead,” he says through clenched teeth. “Yet.”
I finally exhale, relief flooding my chest.
“What did youdoto him? What the fuck is happening in here? Please tell me I’m hallucinating. That it’s not my sickness.”
I step forward; the room is now dead silent, only lit by his haunting blue glow.
“Don’t come near me,” Malec growls.
His voice crashes through my thoughts like a shockwave, silencing even the now whispers.
Whoisthis man?
No—what is he?
My heart pounds like a war drum. But it’s not fear. Not with him.
Every step toward him loosens something inside me. The more I breathe him in, the calmer I feel.
His silver eyes gleam beneath the glowing moon scar on his forehead.
He’s the most beautiful devil I’ve ever seen.
Malec
“Don’t come near me.”
The command flies out before I can stop it, the moment I realize she’s actually stepping closer—tempting fate like it’s a game.
I fucked up. Big time.
I let her see me. I nearly killed that bastard too soon. But I couldn’t take it—his hands on her, his sick thrill. And I knew he’d figure out her trick if I didn’t act fast.
She’s too damn reckless. And now, it’s too late to hide my marks. So I just stand there, rooted in place, fighting every surge of heat rising inside me, trying to calm it down before I reach the point of no return. Before I take both their souls… and blow this whole damn bar off the map.
Her eye makeup is smeared, dark, and raw around her eyes as she scans me from head to toe.
