“You walked in after her second attempt to grab my junk. It pisses me off that she thinks she’s got something with any of us. I haven’t ever touched her, and neither has Juan.”

“You know I never touched her either. Hopefully, this gets through and she’ll move on. Otherwise, I might have to rethink the whole not hurting women thing.”

Jon’s eyebrows go up in surprise. Like he wasn’t just thinking the same thing.

“You know you wouldn’t have to do that. Shit, just turn Kierstie on her and she’ll gladly take care of her. I swear our dear sister is the most bloodthirsty of all of us. God help whatever guy ends up with her.”

Realizing just how right he is, I give him a nod and go back to work. These next couple of hours are going to drag as I count down to going to dinner with Jane.

Jane

Running around, getting myself cleaned up after work, I nearly trip over my own feet a few times. “Fucking get your shit together, woman.”

I finish changing into jeans and a V-neck shirt. I’m barefoot, but even a date at home with a sexy man won’t get me to put shoes back on again today. I have limits, damn it.

I had to ward off Juan and Jon from coming over with Rory since I texted them when I got home about another thing left on my front porch. The only way I got them to hold off was to remind them they now had camera footage to look at. They begrudgingly agreed to not come over and stick to checking out the footage.

This one was a necklace with an angel pendant on it with two white roses. I really don’t get who would be doing this or why. It’s just weird.

I’m just finishing slicing the sourdough bread to go with dinner when there’s a knock on the door. I yell to Rory to come on in. Within seconds, I’m wrapped up in his arms from behind and he’s kissing me on the neck, right in that spot that makes me melt and agree to just about anything.

“Beautiful, you shouldn’t say come in if you don’t know for sure it’s me. That ain’t safe. Especially with you getting that weird shit delivered to you lately.”

“I heard your bike pull up, but I’ll be more careful till we figure out who’s leaving the weird stuff. I got some beer in the fridge. If you want to grab one, dinner’s ready.”

Giving me one last kiss on my neck, he gets a beer and pours me a glass of wine. Yes, I actually splurged on a bottle the other day.

We are just finishing up dinner when I decide it’s time for his gift. I know he can’t take it home with him as he came on his bike, but I can’t wait any longer to give it to him.

“Let me go grab somethin’ real fast. You wait here. I’ll be right back.”

“Color me intrigued. I’ll wait right here, beautiful.”

I get into my closet and take out the gift I got for him weeks ago after one of the letters he sent me. I know he doesn’t have one, and I think he would really enjoy the acoustic guitar I found. I just had to buy it for him. Hopefully he won’t think I overstepped. Heading back toward the kitchen, my nerves about his reaction scream in my head.

“I hope you like it. I got it after reading one of the letters you sent me. I was out and saw it and couldn’t not buy it.”

Rory

She got me a guitar, a fucking amazing guitar. This woman continues to surprise me and keep me on my toes. This is the most thoughtful gift anyone has ever given me. She really read every word I wrote to her.

“Beautiful, I can’t believe you got this. I’ve got no words. Thank you, baby.” I try to choke back the tears.

“I’m so glad you liked it. I was worried you might think I overstepped.”

She really doesn’t get that she’s that important to me already.

“Jane, don’t ever worry about that. You’re our woman. The only reason that’s not being shouted to the world is we respect your wanting to wait because of work. This is the most thoughtful gift anyone has ever given me. Thank you.”

I grab her and bring her between my knees, as I’m still sitting at the dinner table. I grab the back of her neck and kiss her with all the emotion I can’t express. We must stay like that, kissing for a few minutes, before she pulls away and looks down at me. I swear she could ask for the moon right now and I would figure out a way to get it for her.

“You goin’ to play something for me, babe?”

Her calling me babe does something to me.

“Yeah, beautiful, let me see what I can do. Don’t fault me if it doesn’t sound right since this is the first actual guitar I’ve physically played.”

“I’m just excited to watch you play.” She grabs a chair and sits down next to me.
