“I want everything with you. I want the good, the bad, the ugly. I want your laughter and to wipe away your tears. I want to spend my workdays knowing I get to come home and spend time with you. If you want kids, I want to be part of giving them to you. I want special days, holidays, and every day with you. I know Juan and Jon feel the same way. I know I just laid a lot out and I might not be the best with words, but—”
She launches herself on top of me and kisses me deeply and more forcefully than she has before. She breaks the kiss and looks me in the eye with a beautiful smile on her face and tears streaming down her face.
“That was the most romantic and sweet thing anyone has ever said to me. I want that too. With you, and with the Js.”
I smile at this woman who, if I’m being honest, stole my heart before I’d even kissed her.
“Well, beautiful, I know you need to get some sleep before work in the morning, but if you think we aren’t going to go another round after that kiss you just gave me, you’d be mistaken. Fuck, beautiful, just feeling you in my arms has me so on edge, this may not last that long.”
It didn’t last long but left us both spent and able to sleep like babies. The shower in the morning was another exploration that will run through my mind for a good while.
Chapter 13
Jane
The next two days flew by as I got three new clients since the company I work for had another aide quit on them with no notice. This filled all my days and made these last two days more than ten hours long each. This meant I hadn’t seen any of the guys since Rory had left early yesterday morning. Honestly, I’d thought that I would’ve seen Jon last night, but he didn’t bring up seeing me in our texts throughout the day. All three had texted me individually and in a group chat we shared. I was starting to get in my head about Jon. I know he’s claimed he wants me and wants what Juan and Rory want, but he hasn’t made any moves like he’s interested. Is he waiting for a fucking red-carpet invitation? I’m probably overthinking things, but that’s normal when I’m tired.
Last night, I didn’t tell the guys about the angel earrings that were left in my mailbox. There was no note or anything. Seeing how they couldn’t make out who dropped off the last things, I looked this time. The only person on the screen was the mailman.
All I want for tonight is to go home, get into my comfy clothes, and veg on the couch with Tyger. Tomorrow, I’ll deal with Mr. Grumpy and his lack of communication. I stop at a local place and get some comfort food of tacos with chips and salsa, ’cause well, chips and salsa can solve almost anything.
I grab all the stuff from the passenger seat and start to head into the house. I hear my phone ping with a text, but it’ll have to wait as I’m trying to unlock the door. As soon as I get into the house, I drop everything when I see what’s on the table.
Whoever this is has moved up from creepy to scary. They’ve been in my house. Where’s Tyger? I look at the couch and he’s not there. I realize this is one of my nightmares coming true. I grab my phone and dial whoever just texted me as I check all the rooms, thankfully finding Tyger in my bedroom. He seems to be okay. I’m brought back to the phone at my ear by Jon yelling my name in the phone.
“Jane! Babygirl, are you okay?”
Shaking my head at his question, I remember he’s on the phone and can’t hear me.
“They were in my house. They left stuff on the table and locked up Tyger. They were inmyhouse. They could’ve hurt my dog.”
I hear shouting and running on the other side of my phone, then Jon gets back on.
“Babygirl, we were finishing up at the shop, so we’ll be there in ten. I want you to pack a bag for you and Tyger so you can stay with us tonight.”
“No.”
“What did you just say?”
“I said no. This person, whoever they are, can’t win. They won’t drive me from my home. They win if I run away. They can’t win.”
I can hear Rory and Juan in the background, but not what they’re saying.
“We’ll talk when we get there. Don’t touch the shit on the table, babygirl. We may have to call this one in.”
“Okay, I’ll be here.”
“Keep the doors locked till you hear us knock, okay?”
I agree and we hang up the phone. I may be scared, but this person can’t win. I won’t let them dictate that. I have to stand my ground. If I don’t, who knows what this person could try next. I may not be the strongest or bravest person out there, but my dad always told me to stand my ground, and I’m going to do that, damn it.
Jon
It’s probably a good thing I’m not the one driving because I would be going over a hundred to get to Jane. When she called, at first, all I could hear was her panicked voice calling out for Tyger. Hearing her panic had sent me running through the hall to the shop and calling out to J and Ror. Thankfully, both Jameson and Shane were at the shop with us still. Jameson had his truck and told us to get in. He’d drive and Shane agreed to close up the shop.
“I can’t believe she told me no. She needs to—”
Ror speaks up from behind me. “Brother, remember how well demanding shit went for our dear brother here. Do we all want her in our house where she’s safe and belongs? Yes. Is she going to agree to you being demanding and making decisions for her? Nope. You gotta come at her with reason and asking.”
