“Then let's not worry about it. We’re most likely fine. I’m not saying I’m ready to give up using some sort of protection, but I’m not going to freak out about what just happened either.”
Jon gives me a huge smile and kisses me again.
“Glad to hear it, babygirl, ’cause I want to get us some dinner, help you clean up, and then use this as soon as humanly possible.”
Feeling like the rest can wait, I say, “Can we use that now and then do all the rest you mentioned afterward?”
“The woman gets what the woman wants, and I have a desire to taste you, babygirl.”
Taste me he did. Over and over again.
Chapter 14
Juan
Last night after Jon disappeared into the house after our woman, Ror and I went to the hardware store and got everything to fix her window this morning before work. We also got a text from Jon lettin’ us know that our stubborn woman agreed to let one of us spend the night every night till we figure this shit out.
Grabbing a cup of coffee before I go to the garage and get some tools to go over this morning to fix her window, I hear Rory coming out of his room.
“Morning, Ror.”
“Mornin,’ brother. Hey, I was thinking about something.”
Looking over at him as he snatches his own coffee, I ask, “What’s that?”
“Well, we all want to move things along and get Jane living here as soon as she agrees, right?”
I look at him like he just asked a stupid question.
“You got a point to askin’ me a question with an obvious answer this morning, brother?”
“Smartass, yes. I was thinking, we should do some stuff around here to make her moving in easier and make sure this place looks like her dream home. Like that oven is pretty basic. It would be fine for most people, but I think that there’s room in here for one of those fancy ones that she’s always dreamed of.”
“Yeah, I like that idea. Plus, you know she’s always wanting to do more than she can in that tiny kitchen she’s got. What else were you thinking? I mean, I know we have an awesome tub off the master bedroom already.”
“A dog door for Tyger for one, and you know her love of books. Maybe we should turn that nook in the master bedroom into a reading corner with some bookshelves.”
Shit, he’s been thinking about this a lot.
“Brother, those are all awesome ideas. What got you thinking about doing all this stuff for her? Not that I don’t think she should have everything we can give her, but you obviously have been thinking about it a lot.”
“I want to give her everything I can in life, brother. I think life has often made her feel like a secondary person. Someone who’s easily forgotten or discarded. Like she’s never good enough to matter. This is a challenging enough lifestyle we have and I know she’s going to get some shit for it at some point. If I can help make our home her safe place that can always bring her happiness, then I’m going to do whatever I can to do that.”
“I’m in for all of that. Maybe if we make Tyger his own area, we can move up in his eyes and Jon won’t be the only one he loves. Damn dog.”
He chuckles at my Tyger comment.
“Let’s get going and go fix that lock for her.”
Rory
The next week flies by with us coming up with a routine for taking turns staying the night with Jane. Waking up next to her, I get to witness how much our woman is not a morning person. At least not before she has her coffee. Between her and Jon, I think we’re going to have a large stock of coffee at all times. She does become sweet and awake much faster than my grumpy brother.
My woman may claim to be a snuggler, but when she sleeps, I think she turns into a starfish and likes lots of room. I know some of that is from sleeping alone for so many years, but I do love that she always has to have a part of her touching me, like she needs to be assured I’m still there.
This morning I almost fell out of bed trying to untangle myself from her. Wanting to get the coffee going, I head out to the kitchen and let the dog out before I start brewing the coffee.
Last night during dinner, Jane got a text from her friend, Vicky, telling her she won’t be in town in time for brunch, but they’re on for dinner. Between how many times I’ve seen her change plans on Jane, and from the way Nicky talks about her, I’m not her biggest fan. I think she doesn’t treat Jane and their friendship very well and I can see each time she cancels or reschedules, it hurts Jane even if she hides it. I’m not gonna say anything just yet, but I will if I think it goes too far. I know that would probably lead to Jane poking me with that finger that comes out when she’s mad, but I’d do anything to protect her. So far, I’ve fared better than my brothers. Her anger and finger ain’t been directed toward me yet, but I know that’ll happen, eventually. Our woman definitely gets riled up about things she feels strongly about.
