Benny shrugs. “I have no problem with that,” he says, grinning so wide his vampire canines are on full display.

“Well, of course you wouldn’t.” Dericia shrugs, flipping her braids over her shoulder.

Shaun snorts and shakes his head. He extends his hand to Reese. “Welcome aboard, substitute Eerie.”

CHAPTER THIRTY-FIVE

PISCES

I watch from backstage as Goddess’Trance does their sound check. As per usual they sound amazing. When Simon suggested them as our opener for the tour, I immediately said yes. There isn’t another band I’d have picked over them. But in the days after, I wondered if I’d made a huge mistake. Not only is there the issue with Evan and Amelia, but Bliss is a constant irritation to me.

My mind—without my permission—continually wanders back to that day I helped heal her. My eyes—again without my permission—seek her out, loving the dip of her hourglass figure, the softness of her abdomen, and her thick thighs that I keep thinking about being in between.

She is sure to be a distraction during the tour.

But not in the way my cock wants.

Because she’s standing with Grim, his arm around her.

Shaun glances over at me and I motion to our front-of-house engineer, Marcus, to follow me over to the drums. I pass Grim and Bliss as they stand there watching the sound check.

“Did you report the hexes?” he asks her.

“My aunt did. She still has some contacts in the fae council. She’s going to send them what’s left of the wax seals.”

My arm brushes Bliss’ as I pass. She stares at me and I inhale sharply and grit my teeth.

I keep going without saying anything, feeling her eyes on my back. Shaun gets up from the drum kit and nods his head in approval.

“It’ll work,” he says, coming to stand next to me and Marcus.

They discuss inputs and other things with Taser, but I’m not listening. I keep looking over my shoulder at Bliss and Grim. They seem to be arguing about something, but I can’t hear from here.

Fifteen minutes later, Goddess’ Trance’s set starts. Amelia strides out onto the stage, the crowd spotting her immediately. There are appreciative whistles, lots of cheering, and more than one sign out in the crowd asking if she’ll marry them.

I can’t help but grin. This band is going to go far. I can feel it.

Amelia takes the microphone. Dericia, Taser, and Blake head out with their instruments, urging the crowd on.

“We’ve got a special treat for you all tonight,” Amelia yells into the mic, hyping up the crowd. “Our drummer came down with food poisoning, but we’re grateful to have a very special guest fill in for him this evening! Give it up for Mist!”

Mist strides out, masked up and hands painted with our trademark blue-black body paint. He holds his arms up, each holding a drumstick, and the fans lose their shit. Cheering mixes with full-on feral screams as Mist’s fanbase, who came out early to see Goddess’ Trance, gets the best surprise they could have ever hoped for.

Mist takes his seat at Tubbs’ kit and counts down for the first song, seamlessly merging his own skill with the knowledge Tubbs was able to pass to him through the learning potion.

CHAPTER THIRTY-SIX

BLISS

Thankfully,I’m able to watch Goddess’ Trance’s full set before I need to do my vocal warm-ups and start getting ready. As if I’ve done this countless times, I find my way over to the trailer backstage.

As I enter, Simon waves me over. “Bliss, you’re up for makeup.”

“Makeup?” I ask.

He nods. “You need to be painted just like the boys.”

“Let her get dressed first,” Gwen says, motioning me over to a changing room.
