I widened my eyes in disbelief and continued to walk toward him.
I mean. . .
Gianni.
My new husband.
The man who had left me moments ago in our suite—full of heat and desire—now stood before me in a scene that defied all logic.
Like. . .
Gianni was still shirtless. Those muscles, scars, and tattoos were on full display. He also had those same dark pants on that he had hastily put on before leaving our suite.
But now, those legs were restrained by thick iron chains that wrapped around his ankles, anchoring him to the floor.
His arms—once so strong and possessive around me minutes ago—were now held down by similar chains, keeping his hands by his sides.
Even his waist was bound.
A heavy chain coiled around him like a serpent, pinning him to the wall.
His chest heaved with each breath, but he didn’t move, couldn’t move, restrained as he was.
And the most unnerving part was that Gianni just stared at me with pure, unbridled anger blazing in those green eyes.
Like I was the cause of his predicament.
I was flabbergasted. There was no reasoning, no logic that could explain why Gianni would do something so insane, so utterly irrational.
My brain tried to piece together the madness before me, but it was like trying to grasp at smoke.
I held out my hands. “What the hell is this?”
Gianni narrowed his eyes. His words were harsh, clipped growls. “Go back into the suite, my queen.”
I stopped in my tracks, blinking in confusion. “There is no full moon out right now.”
He frowned. “What?”
“Are you a werewolf?” I shot back. “Because that’s the only reason I can think of for why you would chain yourself up like this!”
Gianni’s jaw clenched. “I am making sure that I don’t hurtyou.”
“By chaining yourself up to the wall?”
“Yes!” he growled. “Now go back to our suite.”
“No,” I snapped, taking another step closer. “We need to have a conversation. I am now your wife, not one of your men. And if we are going to have ahappymarriage, then you need to talk to me.”
He glared at me.
This is your fault. You forced me to marry you. Any regrets, buddy?
I placed my hands on my hips.
The air grew thick with this suffocating silence as Gianni's seething rage radiated off him in waves.
My heart pounded in my chest. I was nervous, terrified even, that he would just make me leave again, that he would simply shut me out.
