So happy. It's weird. I never felt a connection with Madam, and now I know why. Jackie and I have so much in common, like painting and loving banana pudding. We look alike, and in my heart, I know she's my mom.

I told Ric about the conversation. I wanted to see Zell, to make sure that she was truly okay. It was weird that we had both chosen to move to California—or at least the men in our lives had. Maybe it was meant to be because I couldn't imagine my life without her in it. I'd spent every day with her for ten years and loved her like a sister.
