Hell. No.

I headed to where my father kept his alcohol in his office and poured myself two fingers of his expensive scotch then tossed it back. It burned as it slid down, and ironically, it reminded me of how it felt after the nurse pulled the tube from my throat when I’d woken after surgery. It was another reminder of the shit Finn pulled.

“Hey.” Rhett stepped closer. “Just hear him out. If you have nothing to say, then don’t say anything.”

I glared at my boyfriend. “When have you known me to keep my mouth shut?”

“Okay, fair point.” He grinned. “But what I mean is, let him say whatever he needs to, and then you can leave. No need to say something you don’t mean or even forgive him.”

“I can tell you I’m absofuckinglutely not forgiving him.”

“I don’t blame you, and as soon as you want to leave, I’m right behind you.”

“I love it when you’re behind me.” I smirked.

“Jesus.” Rhett chuckled. “Always twisting things to be sexual.”

“Only with you, handsome.” I cupped his cheek. “I can’t help it.”

“One reason I fell in love with you.”

“Because of my innuendos?”

“Because you’re funny as hell.”

My hand slid from his cheek to the back of his neck, and I pulled him to me. Capturing his lips, I kissed him hard. “If you keep telling me why you love me, I’m not going to talk to my brother at all. I’ll just take you back up to my room and let you fuck me.”

Before any more was said, Shea knocked on the open door. “Your brother just pulled up, sir.”

“Thank you.” I stepped back from Rhett and took a long breath.

A few minutes later, Finn and one of his agents walked into the room, and my mood shifted again to seeing red.

“Hey,” my brother greeted, then eyed Rhett. He probably wondered if Rhett was going to attack him again.

“Don’theyme. Just spit it out,” I growled.

“Okay, you’re still mad.”

“Of course, I’m still mad,” I snapped. “I’m never going to forget what happened.”

“I know, and I’m sorry.” He held up his hands.

“Are you?” I sneered.

Finn blinked and dropped his arms. “Yes, I am.”

“We tried to warn you something would happen. Instead of paying off your debts and making things right, you used the money to gamble some more. What the hell did you think would happen?”

“I know I fucked up, and all I can say is I’m sorry.”

“Okay. Is that all?”

“I don’t blame you for being mad, Fallon, but I’m trying.”

“Yeah, well, it’s going to take more than a few months for me to be okay with the fact my brother’s stupidity almost got me killed.”

“I understand, and again, I’m sorry.”
