I reached for the bulge in his pants, but he stopped me by stepping back.

“There will be more time for that later, baby boy. We should get back before anyone starts questioning our absence.”

“Promise?”

He pulled my hand to his lips, placing a light kiss against my knuckles. “Promise.”

The following morning,we were summoned to the Oval Office, and I felt like I was back in high school and being called into the principal’s office. I wasn’t sure how my father found out, but when Rhett knocked on my door and told me my dad wanted to speak with me and Finn about the incident in the Red Room, I figured that my dad knew shit was going down.

“You should know I was the one to tell your father,” Rhett stated.

I glanced over at him as we neared the West Wing. “How?”

“I went to his lead agent and told him what was going on and that I needed to speak with your dad.”

“Oh,” I breathed. It didn’t bother me that Rhett had gone to my father without me knowing because it was likely part of his job, and he could get in trouble for not reporting the situation. Plus, it also showed me he would go above and beyond to keep me safe.

“You’re going to lay it all out there, right?” he asked.

“Absolutely. Finn pulling this shit isn’t cool.”

“And it’s dangerous.”

I stopped and faced Rhett. “I know, but lucky for me, I have you to keep me safe.”

“Oh, now you like having a detail on you.” He smirked.

I stepped closer and lowered my voice. “On me.Inme. I love it all now.”

Finn walked around the corner, and I stepped away from Rhett. My brother didn’t say anything as he passed us and entered my father’s office.

“Go put an end to this so we can head home,” Rhett ordered.

“Or”—I grinned—“we can wait for my dad to leave his office, and then we can role play. I’ll be Monica and you can be Bill.”

Rhett shook his head and chuckled. “I’m going down to work out in the gym so I can continue to build up my stamina up for you.”

“So, Mile High Club, then?”

Rhett was still shaking his head and laughing as he walked away without responding. One day, we would join that club.

Taking a deep breath, I made my way to my father’s office door. It was open, and I stepped inside.

“Close the door and have a seat,” my dad instructed and motioned to the empty chair on the left side of his desk. Finn was seated in the chair on the right, and I knew the conversation was serious because instead of sitting on the couches in the center of the room, it was as though we were being separated like children fighting.

My father sat in his black leather chair behind the desk and took a deep breath. “I had a nice chat with Agent Davis this morning. Imagine my surprise when he told me my son was committing fraud.”

My gaze shot to Finn’s, and he glared at me. “Your guy ratted me out?”

My guy …

“You’re the one who’s a criminal,” I spat.

“Enough!” Dad bellowed and slapped the top of his desk. “Agent Davis came to me personally to avoid word getting out about my son opening credit cards in someone else’s name.”

“I don’t see the big deal,” Finn scoffed. “I’m going to pay the bills.”
