Oh…It swam over me, making me dizzier than before.

My lids felt heavy. But a crunching sound brought my focus back to Creek. Lord Zebulon had his foot on the Nephilim’s neck.

Then another burst of vitality touched my senses as Prince Ashmedai appeared in the hallway. His gaze swept over the scene, then a touch of emotion lit his violet irises as he found me across the room.

Lord Zebulon seemed to materialize beside me, my mind slowly blinking in and out of focus.

So much silver.

In me.

On fire.

He said my name. I mumbled a response.

I reached for him, struggling to focus on his face, to stay with him.

Only I wasn’t moving at all.

My fingers weren’t stroking him. My mouth wasn’t moving as I tried to speak. Nothing… nothing existed. I no longer existed.

A strange sensation.

Ghostlike and cruel and sohot.

The world tilted around me.

Prince Ashmedai’s palms were suddenly on my skin.

He exchanged words with Lord Zebulon, none of it understandable.

And then agony ripped through my core as my blood began toboil.

I screamed, but the men held me down as my life fluid was literally ripped from my body through the very wounds Creek had created.

Lord Zebulon pressed his wrist to my mouth, a demand on his tongue.

I didn’t understand, his blood suffocating me as power continued to drain my veins dry. What are they doing to me?I thought, swimming in a pool of intense misery. Why are they eviscerating me?

No. Not eviscerating.

Exsanguinating.

Electric currents rolled through me, their lasting zings leaving imprints of Prince Ashmedai’s essence.

He’s pulling the silver out of me,I realized with a jolt of understanding. And Lord Zebulon is giving me the strength to survive it.

I blinked again, my vision clearing just enough to see a set of infuriated black eyes. “Drink,” Lord Zebulon demanded. “Drink now.”

I swallowed, my mouth full of his blood. I’d been about to inhale it.

Time and space disappeared again, blackness coating my vision.

But my throat continued to work.

Until it didn’t.

And all I could do was rest as the world moved around me in hypnotic patterns etched into dark… dark… waves.
