And keeping us buoyant without much effort.

If I didn’t know better, I’d say he was standing on the bottom.

Stop thinking, I told myself.Enjoy him. Enjoy this. Live in the moment.

I ran my tongue along his lower lip. “I’ve always wanted to have sex in the water.” The words came from me unbidden, the darkness in my core taking control of my mouth without permission. But the way his arousal hardened against me said he was up for the task.

“You can’t distract me with sex, Kailiani,” he replied softly, both of his hands on my hips. The thong bikini bottom disappeared with a snap of his wrists, leaving me bare against him. “However, I’ll happily fuck you and then pick up this conversation again afterward.”

“I like the sound of that.” Not the discussion part, but the fucking part.

“Grab one of the stairs,” he instructed.

I glanced over my shoulder, surprised to find the yacht right behind me.How…?The head of his cock nudged my entrance.Oh, never mind.I clutched one of the steps and arched into him. “I’m ready.”

“I know,” he replied, his mouth against mine. “Now hold on, my little water nymph. This is going to be rough.”

Kailiani’sdark hair painted an alluring image across my pillows, her eyes dancing behind her closed lids. I longed to wake her, to hold her, to fuck her again, but she needed her rest.

And I needed answers.

We were on night seven of this arrangement where I exhausted her throughout the day and allowed Morpheus to work on her mind at night.

He stood in the doorway, his hands in the pockets of his dress pants, his gaze narrowed. “There’s something in this strand,” he said, his voice deep with exhaustion. “Something… that doesn’t want to be found.”

I didn’t bother telling him to follow it. He had several millennia under his belt. He knew what he was doing.

Rather than interrupt his work, I stepped out of the room to fix myself another much-needed drink before retrieving my phone. JBI had sent me a message earlier asking if I wanted to extend my contract with Kailiani.

I didn’t want to extend it.

I wanted to end it and keep her for eternity.

But I couldn’t do that until I knew what secrets were locked inside her mind.

She very clearly had no idea who and what she really was, something she evidenced every time I took her swimming. Her natural talents showed in her movements, her confidence in the water rivaling a siren’s, but she swam with the strokes of a human. No magic. No enchantment. No siren song.

It baffled me and infuriated me. Someone had done this to her, and I very much wanted to knowwho.

Had it been the price she paid to escape me?

Would discovering the truth unearth the siren locked inside her?

What would that discovery do to the female I’d entertained this week? Because I rather liked this version of Kailiani. She was subservient, sexy, intelligent, and very muchmine.

I didn’t want to lose that or her, but I also needed the siren to come out to play. That siren was her inner immortality, the being meant to remain by my side for eternity.

Shoving the questions to the back of my mind, I finished my drink and sent a message off to JBI about keeping Kailiani for a month. The sum I offered was one they wouldn’t question. And if by some chance they did, I’d double it.

Satisfied, I set my phone on the counter just as Morpheus entered the kitchen with a blank expression. I arched a brow. “Find something?”

“Yes.” His icy irises glimmered like silver beneath the low lighting of my kitchen. “I’ve been dancing through her memories all week, and I finally found the one you need.”

I studied him. “Well?” I prompted when he didn’t continue.
