All thoughts of the camera overhead and Cam’s location fled as Calina continued reading through all the files about her creation and her immortality.

The purpose had been to create an immortal lycan.

They’d achieved it by using theErositalink and Mira’s genetics, then encasing the fetus in the womb of a rare blood type. Which, we found through reading, was part of what made Mira so unique.

Her mother hadn’t just been anErosita, but a human of a unique essence similar to the golden blood running through Calina’s veins.

The blood virgins, like Juliet, were all related to that rare blood type as well. They weren’t golden bloods, but a variant, which explained why Lilith had chosen to keep them housed over the catacombs.

They were being used for experimentation as well, something the files revealed as Calina continued to dig through the various reports.

Everything was linked.

Vampires. Lycans. Blood virgins.Erositas.

Calina was created by genetically manipulating the part of the brain where theErositaconnections resided in immortal beings, infusing her essence with her mother’s bloodline, and then wrapping it all up in an irresistible blood type that made her even more appealing.

Lilith’s goal had been to create immortal humans who could be fucked and bled to death, only to rejuvenate themselves to do it all over again.

But Mira’s goal had been to find a way to prolong lycan life.

Somehow, the two had agreed to work together. Which explained how Mira had been able to circumvent Lilith’s technology, even in her own territory.

Because Lilith had allowed it.

Just as she’d allowed Majestic Clan to operate as a safe haven for humans.

“Mira told her everything,” I realized, skimming the logs with Calina. “And now someone has allowed us to find out.” I glanced up at the camera again. “Is it you, Mira? Are you the liege?” It seemed impossible. But she was older than Lilith. Potentially even more powerful.

“It says here that Lilith woke Mira up after the first lycan was discovered by humans,” Calina said, interrupting my staring contest with the camera.

Who are you?I wondered at it.Why are you letting us in on your secrets now?

We were still in the heart of a game. The distraction had been avoided, but we hadn’t been punished yet for finding all these details.

Which meant whoever was in charge wanted us to know these things.

“That’s why they created the lab,” Calina continued. “Mira wanted to strengthen lycan kind to ensure it never happened again.”

“Is that what it says?” I asked, finally looking at the screen again.

“No. But it’s what makes sense.” She pulled up a log entry entered by Mira displaying her trials and errors. All of them predated the revolution and when she met Luka. The final was exactly two years after Calina’s birth, with Mira leaving instructions for future researchers to continue her work.

“She trusted Lilith to keep her updated,” I realized out loud, reviewing the ending of her log. “She might have no idea that you’re even still alive.”

“Unless she’s watching us now.” Calina glanced up at the camera. “But I think the liege is Michael.”

I shook my head. “Michael’s dead.”

“No.” She clicked on the screen to bring up another log dated around the time of her birth. “He’s a vampire.”

My brow furrowed. “That doesn’t make any sense.” But as I read the words on the screen, they began to paint a very disturbing picture.

He’d been attacked by humans.

Nearly died.

Until someone of royal descent had given him blood to bring him back to life.
