Soft moans.

Weeping.

A dark sense of power.

And utter devastation.

Hydria…

Hydria resembleddeath.

Chapter34

Stas

A Half Hour Earlier

Seven against a hundredweren’t fair odds.

However, the Seraphim were completely immune to Hydraian gifts.

And invisible in their ethereal states.

The only ones capable of even seeing them were Stas, Issac, and her father.

Her mother hadn’t returned yet.

But Eliza had arrived with Amelia, Tom, Tristan, and Nadia.

A whoosh of sound echoed through the beach, Tristan’s gaze focused on the Seraphim as they formed a protective V shape with Adriel at the head.

He took a step forward, and the earth thundered in protest, the vibration giving his steps away.

“Brilliant,” Issac said, grinning as a second reverberation gave away Leek’s position.

How is Tristan doing that?she wondered. He shouldn’t be able to… Her eyes widened. You’re showing him where the Seraphim are.

I’m showingeveryonewhere the Seraphim are,Issac corrected.Tristan is just amplifying the visual with sound.

A team of Hydraians sprang forward on Alik’s orders, firing guns and throwing knives at the Seraphim.

But the weapons went right through their ethereal forms.

Then Leek sent a rune back at the Hydraians—a rune her father caught and redirected at the ocean. An inferno blasted over the waves, the ethereal energy some sort of grenade-like bomb.

The warrior Seraphim fired several more, two of which she managed to catch and toss away like her father had. But the third struck the Hydraian forces, stirring up a fire that left several of them screaming.

The flames died in the next breath, one of the Hydraians using a gift for controlling water to smother the inferno.

But more wards came, too fast for Stas to catch them all. Sethios tried as well, the two of them the only ones capable of flying fast enough to counter the ethereal firepower.

She suddenly had a new appreciation for Stark’s games in the air.

And he really had gone easy on her.

Fuck.

The V formation fractured, Adriel shooting up into the sky with Arvane and Kital on either side of him, leaving Leek to lead the raid on the beach.
