Both were terrified.

Still, Adriel spoke.

Stas couldn’t hear him, could only see that blade at Lizzie’s creamy throat.

The metal began to move.

Lifting.

Arcing.

Forming an angle that could only mean one thing.

“If that is your choice,” Adriel said, his words finally piercing Stas’s mind. “Then I’ll deliver your fate.”

Stas blinked.

Her lips parted.

The sword began to slice through the air.

And a scream escaped Stas’s throat. So loud. So commanding. So…furious.

These Seraphim had attacked her family. Her loved ones. And this Seraphim of Warriors had the fucking audacity to try tobeheadher best friendin front of her?

Power rippled through her veins, unleashing into the wind as she reached for Adriel as though she intended to strangle him.

But he was too far away for her to reach.

Too close to her best friend.

With that fucking sword in the air.

About to behead a womanholding a baby.

“Stop!” Stas shouted, her voice more commanding than she’d ever heard it. Loud. Reverberating through the earth, heightening the energy sprouting from her fingertips, and singeing the air around them.

She bellowed, screaming to the heavens, demanding retribution for the injustice of it all.

They’d attacked the Hydraians.

Drowned her.

Incapacitated her father. Jayson.

Had her mother at knifepoint.

Had killed Blake.

Grace and Ash, her mind added, taking in their headless forms.Dead.

More anger flourished inside her, pouring out through her fingertips in the form of electric arcs that hit Adriel, Kital, and Arvane directly in the chest.

Then they went to the ground, kneeling as she unleashed more. So. Much. More.

They will not hurt anyone else.

They will not take Lizzie.
