She was torn between wanting to kill him—a thought that held new meaning now—and fucking him. Or fucking him and then killing him.
Because she couldn’t deny his sex appeal.
Those thick blond locks and startling green eyes made him a prize worth worshipping.
Something that shocked her because she’d vowed never to have sex again after everything she’d been through previously.
Yet her body burned for his every time he came near, her legs clenching as though desiring to be wrapped around his muscular hips.
A craving she longed to ignore.
He haunted her dreams, taking her repeatedly and waking her with a moan lodged in her throat. Only to realize she was alone and desiring the one man on this island who would never touch her.
She ground her teeth together. This was the last thing she needed to be thinking about.
Because I just killed a Seraphim.
Her jaw hurt from clenching it so hard, but it loosened as the door to Luc’s house opened.
She expected it to be Mateo, since he’d been staying here the last few days.
The blond hair matched her expectation.
However, the tall, muscular build was all Luc.
His wide shoulders spanned the width of the door as he stepped through it. Then he closed it with a resounding click.
Eliza swallowed, the sight of him making her mouth go dry.
There was something darkly mysterious about the man, his presence one that constantly made her want to kneel. Which was why she fought him so hard. She refused to bow to anyone ever again. The Hydraian King included.
Right, she thought.I just need to walk up there and demand a word.
Except he was already moving and taking the path opposite to where she stood.
Sighing, she started off after him.
She’d just make sure he wasn’t off to do something important like console the friends of those mourning the lives lost today—Grace, Ash, and Jordy were all well loved by their fellow Hydraians—making it very likely that he was on his way to someone who needed him more than Eliza did.
That was fine.
She’d continue to wait until he had a spare minute. Maybe he’d respect her for it.
More likely not, though.
He didn’t seem to respect her at all.
A fact that grated on her nerves because she’d mostly done everything he’d asked. However, he kept treating her like a damn child, not allowing her to train or learn anything about where she fit on this island. He’d made it very clear he didn’t want her here at all.
When you learn about what I did to that Seraphim, you’ll feel differently, she thought.
It almost excited her, knowing that she might finally impress him.
But he might also hate her power.
It was dangerous.
And he’d probably say something about how she wasn’t worthy of it, how she couldn’t handle such a gift, how she was too much of a child for it.
