It wasn’t in her nature to deny him.
He knew this because he felt the same about her. There was an odd sense of intimacy between them, one he’d felt from the moment she’d arrived in Hydria. His body knew hers. His mind did, too. And his mouth… his mouth had kissed hers many, many times before.
“How many days did we spend in bed together?” he whispered.
Because it felt like hundreds, maybe even thousands. There was so much history here. Yet they’d only been together in Brazil. Part of his mind wondered if that was true. Maybe she’d taken his memories before then.
If Vera were here, he’d demand answers.
But it was just him and Leela.
“Only two,” she replied against his mouth.
“Impossible,” he breathed, his free hand unzipping her coat while the other remained clasped around her nape. “Iknowyou, Lee.”
“Because we’re similar, B,” she murmured. “I’m a goddess of sex. Seduction. Fertility.Lust.”
He pushed the jacket from her shoulders.
She let it fall to the floor before wrapping her arms around him.
“I’m the woman destined to destroy everything you think you know about fucking,” she promised him, her voice a low caress that went straight to his dick. “Which is why I won’t crawl.”
His lips curled against hers. “Oh, sweetheart, this game just gets more and more interesting every time you speak.”
He slid his tongue into her mouth, silencing her reply. But it didn’t quiet her mind.
Her thoughts rioted, recalling his skill and prowess. The rightness and knowledge of his touch. Their fiery passion. The heat that had burned in her veins for weeks after Brazil.
Yet on the edge of her mind, he sensedmore. Some vague recollection that pulsated within her psyche without being fully tangible. He prodded at it, curious as to what she kept hidden there. However, her nails bit into his neck, drawing him back to their embrace.
Her opposite hand wandered down his jacket to the bottom before sliding beneath the fabric to caress his flat abdomen.
Bold. Knowing. Intoxicating.
He hummed in approval, liking a woman who knew how to take charge. However, he squeezed her nape in the next moment, reminding her that he wasn’t that easy.
Challenge thrived between them, her teeth skimming his lower lip as she threatened to bite him. He opened his eyes to find her irises flaring bright blue with no sign of green, reminding him of a succubus.
Fucking stunning. He wanted to see what intense ecstasy did to her gaze. How fiercely could he make her glow?
You won’t win this battle, she thought at him.
He smiled, intrigued. Except those words struck a chord. Some memory he didn’t quite understand. Whether in her mind or his own, he couldn’t say.
There was some sort of strange connection between them, one he couldn’t define.
Her brow furrowed as though she felt it, too. “Did you say that to me in Brazil?” he wondered out loud.
“I…” She swallowed. “I don’t know.” Her nails left his neck, and he released her nape. She took a stumbling step back. He caught her hip just to stabilize her. “My head feels fuzzy, maybe from being shot?”
His brow furrowed. “You should be fully healed from that.”
“Then maybe the rune?” She glanced at her arm, but the marking was hidden beneath her sweater. “It could be conflicting with my other one.” She shook her head as though to clear it. “Maybe I just need sleep.”
“Or food,” he suggested. “When was the last time you ate?”
“I have no idea,” she admitted, blowing out a breath as she glanced around. “I need to secure the wards, too. It’s been a long time since I was here.”
