It wouldn’t take long, as he hadn’t drawn any blood. But it added a sexual glint to her gaze that she’d wear most of the evening.
Because she would want to do the same to him.
Except he moved his mouth away before she had the chance.
The dark desire turned her irises into a siren shade of blue, intensifying her features that much more and making her utterly exquisite in that pretty dress.
“Mmm, I’d take you back upstairs to sate that craving, but there are other parts of you that need to be fed first, sweet vixen,” he whispered.
“Maybe I’ll hook up with our waiter instead. Take the edge off.”
“Only if I can watch,” he replied, his arm sliding around her waist as his opposite hand went to her chin. “If you need an appetizer, you’re more than welcome to slide under our table for a taste. Unless it’s indulging others that suits you more.”
“You’d approve of me fucking another man in front of you?”
“I’d approve of anything that fulfills your fantasies, sweetheart,” he murmured, meaning it. “So long as you understood that I’d be the one taking you home afterward. Because we both know you’d need my brand of sex to truly satisfy you.”
“And you? What do you need, B?”
He stared down into her eyes, his touch shifting from her chin to her cheek and down to brush his knuckles along the column of her neck. “Right now?” he asked, his voice softening as he seriously considered her query. “Right now, all I need is you.” And he meant it, too.
Not every occasion required group involvement.
Sometimes it was nice to play one-on-one.
Especially with a partner as gifted as Leela.
“Then I suppose you’ll have to give me that appetizer,” she whispered, her fingers trailing up the buttons of his shirt. “Take me to dinner, B. Please. I’m tired of hiding. I want to see if we can trigger any more memories by walking around. And I promise to mist us out of here at the first sign of trouble.”
He wanted to see if anything sparked more memories, too. And there was only one way to find out—by exploring.
Fortunately, Leela had more than proved her ability to mist quickly.
While conscious,he thought, gazing down at her pleading expression.
“I’ll stay extra vigilant,” she said. “I can sense ethereal presences. I just have to be paying attention. And I wasn’t in Japan, because I was relying on my wards. I won’t make that mistake again, B. I promise I can protect us.”
That was the second time in a span of a minute that she’d used the phraseI promise.
He couldn’t help responding to it.
“I do trust you,” he told her, the words a gift that meant more than their face value.
Because he was essentially saying that he accepted her apology.
Which she’d understand, as he’d just told her earlier that it took time to recover from a betrayal, that trust didn’t always come naturally as a result.
Sometimes, there was no coming back from a broken vow.
But he and Leela were walking the road to recovery, each step pointing them in the right direction, every confession solidifying the bond between them.
Each kiss whispering a chance to experience somethingmore.
His lips brushed hers now, a sinful promise burning between them. “Lead the way, vixen. Tonight, I’m yours to do with as you please.”
