I start my path downward, my eyes holding Clove’s gaze. “Deep breaths, gorgeous. I’m about to make you scream.”

Clove’s moans reach my ears, causing my lips to curl. I told Caius and Volt to take care of her and it appears they’re doing just that.

Good.

I wrap up my email to one of my clients—he wants a discount for his project request, which isn’t happening—and hit send. Volt’s skills are too impressive to ever earn a discount price, something my client will now understand. He can either pay in full, plus a percentage for the perceived insult, or go elsewhere with his bullshit.

We primarily do this to help finance projects on the island. Which makes it unnecessary in the grand scheme of our pack dynamics. But as Volt enjoys playing with knives and guns, it serves as a worthwhile effort on our part.

Caius’s part of the business is where we make most of our money. He’s a master blackmailer, always finding the right rich people to exploit and using it to our benefit. And it helps that Volt kills for some of them; adds fodder to the files.

Caius is also an expert at laundering funds through legitimate corporations and ensuring others are always in our debt. It’s a skill he picked up from his dad, who happens to be one of my father’s best friends, and also the financial manager for the Black Mountain Pack.

Volt’s upbringing was a little different. He came to Black Mountain as a pup, his father having gone insane and killing his mother before taking his own life. His Alpha father refused to join a clan and took a Beta for a mate, yet impregnated an Omega to have a child—Volt.

It didn’t end well.

And Volt’s been dealing with the results ever since.

My father didn’t approve of him for my clan, but it wasn’t his choice. My wolf drives my needs, and he chose Caius and Volt.

And now my wolf wants Clove.

However, her falling out of her estrus is… problematic.

I can’t mate an Omega incapable of providing an heir. That’s my duty as Pack Alpha. And I refuse to mate an Omega only to fuck another to fulfill a requirement. That would destroy my clan.

Which leaves me with the very difficult decision of having to wait.

I need to know Clove can give us what we need before I mate her.

Until then, Caius and Volt can play. But they know not to claim her.

My wolf is pissed, but this is one situation where my human mind overrules his animalistic instincts. It’s my responsibility as a leader to make the right choices in life not just for me, but for my entire pack.

Unfortunately, this is one of them.

Sighing, I close down my computer and stand to stretch my arms over my head. I sent out a message to Alpha Duncan—one of the few who didn’t attempt to challenge me earlier today over Clove—to call for a midnight meeting on the beach.

I’m going to address the pack and tell them what’s happening with Clove.

Then I’ll address the challengers, most of whom should be awake by now and healing.

I’ll forgive them for their actions because I felt the rutting pull threatening to overtake my wolf and understand why they gave into it. But I’ll expect a show of respect from them.

Which will begin with them attending tonight’s meeting.

Anyone who doesn’t will be sternly spoken with and, depending on their response, permanently removed from the island.

I won’t kill them.

But I will exile them, something I’ve only ever done once.

Since most of the wolves here are not true rejects, they’re not relegated to the island. Most of the paperwork is all falsified as well, giving me jurisdiction to do as I please.
