But I fought it with everything I possessed, navigating through the murky reality and following that hum of sound.

Raven… Raven… Raven…

It took me downstairs.

Through the middle of the house.

And back up into a new wing.

Layla’s wing, I vaguely recognized.

And right to her kitchen.

Where Prince Ketos was bleeding out on the floor. I froze, searching for Auric. But I didn’t see him anywhere.

However, I’dheardhim yelling for me.

For Ketos.

The guards were all around him, wrapping him up in a body bag like he was already dead.

But his chest was moving, ever so slightly, and I could sense his spirit still inside of him.

“Move,” I demanded, shoving the guard closest to me out of the way.

He growled, his energy shifting as he came for me, but Zian blocked him. Or maybe it was Sorin. I wasn’t sure, but they were instantly at my back, growling at the guards in warning.

Touch her and you die, they were saying, their snarls animalistic in nature.

I trusted them to protect me, my energy already shifting as I hovered my hand over Ketos’s prone form.Come on,I thought.Tell me how to fix you. Show me where it hurts most.

Chaos swirled around me, the entire fucking palace losing their damn minds.

Layla and Novak stood in the corner, listening as Netiri cried over some sob story about Auric stabbing Ketos. But I sensed her lie. I could fucking taste it.

Because the truth was in Ketos’s blood.

He needs to survive.

I didn’t know where Auric was, but they’d done this to him.Somehow.Which meant they couldn’t be trusted.

Auric saw through it all. Maybe Ketos did, too.

I found the source of his wound—the blade in his abdomen—and ripped it out of him.

Because the metal wasdraininghis energy. He’d used what was left of it to strengthen Auric’s call. I could sense it all, feel the truth of it beneath my fingertips as his body began to hum.

Fuck. My father was right.

This whole damn thing is a mirage.

And now I had to do what he said.

I had to save Ketos.

“If you don’t heal Prince Ketos, you and your mates will die.”

Not going to happen, I thought, sweat populating along my brow.Ketos is going to live. And we’re going to get the fuck out of here.
