I lifted a shoulder. “I accepted that a memory with you is worth whatever punishment Lucifer assigns to me.”

Camillia startled at my words. “You… you decided that?”

I dipped my chin in confirmation, then shrugged again. “I don’t regret it, Camillia. I think I would have regretted not fucking you again, though.” I brushed my lips against her forehead. “IknowI would have regretted it.”

She stared at me for a long moment, emotion touching her gaze. “I actually think that might be the nicest thing you’ve ever said to me.”

My lips curled, humor touching my chest. “I’m pretty sure I complimented your pussy about a dozen times this last round. That wasn’t considered nice?”

She rolled her eyes. “Men in the throes of passion are willing to admit a lot of things they don’t actually mean.”

“True, but I meant every word.”

“Well, I still think saying a memory with me is worthy of punishment is nicer,” she replied, her voice softening at the end. “It’s almost as though you actually like me now, Warden.”

“I think I do, rebel,” I returned.

“Then maybe you can start calling meCamiinstead ofCamillia. You did a few times before… the incident.”

“The incident?” I echoed. “You mean the one where you ran away?”

Her gaze narrowed. “I didn’t run away. Not on purpose, anyway. But if you’re going to—”

I grabbed her sides and tickled her, drawing a shocked gasp from her as she started to squirm.

“Hey!”

I continued my assault, dragging her beneath me as she giggled and fought, trying to thwart my hands and wiggle her way out of my hold.

When I had her right where I wanted her, I pinned her with my hips against hers and captured her wrists above her head. She was panting from the effort, soft laughs still escaping her as the residual sensations reached her nerves.

I grinned at her gorgeous smile, her angry eyes resembling furious storm clouds. It was an intoxicating combination, one that had me kissing her nose and then her cheek. “I know you didn’t try to run away,” I whispered softly. “I believe you,Cami.”

She shuddered beneath me, those storm clouds immediately turning into something more intense, her body preparing for a fourth round.

I was just as ready as her, as evidenced by my hardness against her belly.

But right when I was about to kiss her, a deep voice said, “Attention, Hell Fae Kingdom.”

I froze on top of Cami, then immediately looked at the black screen in the corner of the bedroom. Lucifer’s face filled the area, his upper body clad in his usual black-on-black suit. Cami followed my gaze, her escalating heartbeat singing in my ears.

“I know you all have been eagerly awaiting an update regarding the Hell Fae Bride Trials,” Lucifer went on. “After much deliberation, we have decided to resume the trials in two days’ time. As with the last trials, I will be hosting a viewing party at Purgatory. All Hell Fae are welcome.”

Yes, but not Midnight Fae,I thought. Which wasn’t entirely true. If I wanted to go to Purgatory, Lucifer would allow it. But I’d never felt very welcome in the club, given my roots, so I hadn’t spent much time there.

“If you have a candidate you’re sponsoring,” Lucifer continued, “I recommend gifts that may aid in surviving the Marsh Lands. Like last time, I won’t elaborate on the trials beyond providing the location. There will be no favoritism when it comes to surpassing these challenges.”

“Marsh Lands?” Cami whispered. “That’s what I was starting to read about earlier.”

I nodded, aware of the book she’d chosen.

“In closing, I will reiterate that the trials will not be extended to the Netherworld Kingdom or Morpheus Kingdom. The kings of those kingdoms are hosting their own trials with the Monsters Night brides. Those brides will not be eligible for Hell Fae mating.”

He paused, his expression informing the kingdom that there would be no arguing that point.

“If there are any questions, I will be in Purgatory in two days’ time to meet with you all,” he concluded. “Thank you and good night.”

The screen went black.
