A man I’d started to like, against my best wishes.
A man who had apparently immobilized Ajax to keep him from helping me.
Not that he would have anyway,I thought.
“Fuck,” Az said, drawing my attention to him and Veronica’s fleeing form.
“I amnotgoing back!” she shouted as she bolted with much more speed than I would have expected from her.
She didn’t want to return to bridal hell? Shocking.
Az cursed. “I’ll get her,” he said while shoving a finger at Ajax. “But don’t let Camillia out of your sight, understand?”
“Just go chase the girl.” Ajax sounded exasperated, as if it was a dumb order and he couldn’t possibly lose sight of me.
Except I was already halfway across the rubble, and Ajax cursed. “Cami, hold up!”
“I will not hold up. Youkeep up,” I shouted over my shoulder.
Because it was clear that no one knew what the fuck they were doing. Innocent lives were being endangered over a fucking trial, and on top of that, there was a massive portal in the Marsh Lands destroying everything around it.
I’ll take care of this myself if I have to,I growled in my head. Not that I had a fucking clue how, but I was over it. The bureaucracy. The male superiority.
All of it.
And it was time for this insanity to come to an end.
CHAPTER33
CAMI
“Canyou conjure me some shoes? And maybe something more appropriate to wear?” I demanded after stepping on something sharp, making pain radiate up my leg.
If he was going to stick around, he could at least prove useful.
My feet were starting to burn, and I realized I had cuts. Probably more than I cared to admit. The rest of me was painfully exposed, too. Not to mention my aching ribs were making it hard to breathe.
And now my clit is throbbing again because of these fucking chains.
“Some underwear or pants would be nice, too,” I grumbled.
Ajax responded by withdrawing his wand, but when a blast of purple magic ricocheted off of me, he winced.
Well, that clearly wasn’t going to work.
But his eyebrows simply drew downward in the next breath, determination overtaking his features as he narrowed his gaze. He muttered another spell, this one seeming to slither around me like his pet snakes.
I shivered, worried that I’d just made a terrible mistake when the chains started to move and re-form around me.
Frowning, I looked down to see the lace and metal creating a top that actually covered my breasts.
I jolted as the metallic piece against my mound moved, then sighed with immediate relief as it freed my tender skin. My insides burned, reminding me of the chains against my skin, but a subtle hint of coolness from my necklace helped calm my fiery nerves.
Then Ajax took a step back to evaluate his handiwork. “I can’t remove the outfit, but I can apparently manipulate it.”
He’d created several layers, the red lace and chains turning into a somewhat functional dress that cupped me from breast to thigh.
Not exactly the best wardrobe for our current situation, but maybe the metal would serve as a shield.
