“Cami,” that voice said again, causing my body to shake.

I blinked, confused. Then frowned even harder as the sapphire irises melted into a set of new eyes.

Ajax?I thought.

His gaze wasn’t burning with Hellfire. Instead, his irises were rimmed with blue flames.

“Another dream?” Ajax asked softly, his arms moving around me as he pulled me into his chest, his lips ghosting across my brow.

I swallowed and nodded.

I hadn’t hidden these dreams from him. Nor had I hidden Melek’s visits. I’d been completely open with Ajax.

And Az, too.

To an extent.

Az was still sleeping on the couch, though. And he frequently left to give me some privacy with Ajax.

“Same thing?” Ajax pressed. “Absorbing power while he…?”

I nodded again. “Yeah.”

Ajax was trying to be supportive, but I knew the dreams bothered him. Especially since I often woke up from them screaming…with pleasure.

He was convinced Melek had bespelled me with some sort of dream potion.

He probably wasn’t wrong.

But I still wondered if it was linked to the Phoenixfire, only because that was the night these strange dreams had begun.

The energy inspired by the dream clung to me, making my skin burn. That, at least, was real. The pink hue radiating over my flesh was a stark contrast to the cool room’s pleasant breeze. I had no idea where it came from—probably from deep within my own soul—but it glowed every time I awoke.

And it freaked me out.

Because this couldn’t be a good sign.

It also wasn’t normal.

I licked my lips, trying to rid myself of the warm sensations. “Do you think these dreams have anything to do with the source?” I asked, unable to hide the quiver from my voice. We’d talked about it briefly before, but not too much in depth.

However, this dream had been even more intense than the others.

I’d been sohungry, sucking in Lucifer’s power like I needed it to survive.

And it terrified me.

Because I’dcravedhis power in my dreams.

Just like I’d cravedhim.

“Maybe,” Ajax murmured, his fingers running through my hair. “Or maybe it has something to do with our bond to Az. You keep dreaming about hot power, which could easily be related to the Phoenixfire.”

True,I thought.

“It could also be some residual connection that they share seeping through the bonds,” he added.

That sounded convoluted, but I supposed that was a possibility, too. Az and Lucifer were mates. I could be impacted by that somehow. It wasn’t exactly like the two were run-of-the-mill fae. Who knew what kind of changes Az’s bite would do to me?
