Rough.
And unexpected.
Knocking the air right out of my lungs.
Leaving me…
Fuck.
Cam’s voice was in my head, demanding to know if I was okay. But I was too busy trying to see to answer him. The glasses were still on my head, yet everything had turned black.
Can’t… breathe…I realized, my fingers clawing at the palm clamped down around my throat.Let… go!
“You’re mine now,” a voice said.
Michael.
Cam roared in response.
I wasn’t even sure where he’d come from or how he’d tracked me. “Why… can’t… you… just… be… dead?” Each word was silent, my lips moving to form them. However, I didn’t have the air tovoicethem.
My back hit the wall again as Michael shifted his grip, my head ringing from the impact.
Hate,I thought.I fucking…hate… you.
Cam said something in response, but I couldn’t hear him over the roar flooding my senses. It was loud. All-consuming.Deadly.
I refuse… to die… like this,I thought dizzily as Michael’s free hand went to my dress.
“I’m going to fuck you. And then I’m going to kill you,” he said against my ear. “Say goodbye to Cam, Izzy. You’re about to lose him once and for all.”
CHAPTER SIXTY-THREE
CAM
A Few Minutes Earlier
Fuck.
These lycans were rabid, their goal clear—kill.
Hazel phased around the room, her movements an attempt to avoid being mauled.
Ayaz was already dead.
Helias was fighting three feral lycans.
And Jenkins seemed hell-bent on taking down my brother.
I knocked a wolf off my arm, ignoring the searing pain his teeth left behind in my torn skin, and punched another in the snout.
Trying to talk them down would be impossible. These were lab wolves, ones that had been in cages for gods knew how long. Poked and prodded. Experimented on. Controlled via whatever technology my brother fancied.
No, there would be no reasoning with these animals. I wasn’t even sure if they could shift back into their human forms.
My fist connected with another snout, a growl growing in my chest.
This felt like a distraction. A way to keep us all busy until the real trouble arrived.
